I think the influence of the religious rights goes beyond what the article claims. As most of the language doesn't specifically champion Christianity. It more appears to use supposed concern for children to herald in the taking down of net neutrality. This part is easy to understand once one realizes that most of the child porn that exchanges hard drives over the internet happen on the part of the internet most families are ignorant of in the first place. That's where I think the power of the religious right is shown, that in order to pass a certain agenda, it has to appeal to them first. They do this because they're aware of the fact that those who are nonreligious on the right, most likely aren't registered Republicans.

Many on the religious right are no different than many on the secular left; well-intentioned, yet misguided. I mostly disagree with legislating sexual behavior between adults. But if there are problems associated with our mass consumption of porn, would you like to know what they are? Should we have discussions about it?

 

Eventually, the extremists will cause themselves to lose horribly. And I will cheer when they do. People won't put up with being oppressed in perpetuity. Big change is just a matter of time.

 

The platform doesn't actually discuss porn. Plus, the health benefits of masturbation are well documented. So what ever facilitates masturbation is a health benefit.

 

There's also problems with America's mass consumption of high fructos corn syrup, yet I'm going to get you wouldn't support a bill regulating sodas.

That doesn't mean I'm unwilling to discuss ways to limit children's access to high fructose corn syrup. At least I'd be willing to have the conversation about other possible remedies. Truth is religious bigots back the DNC (like the Muslims and Baptists) yea, go poll them and ask them if homosexuality should be banned, yeah you would get a 98% approval rating on that one from the Muslims and Baptists yet they consistently vote progressive democrat....

 

I support the Judeo/Christian principles on which our country was founded. I do consider certain so called religions such as Islam and others as cults, not religions.

 

I'm willing to bet your answer to the corn syrup question and kids is the same as my answer to the porn question and kids:

I don't know what Baptists you're referring to. At least when it comes to Missionary Baptists, all their churches in my state are Republicans.

I'm not democrat or republican. Fact is, I loath the duopoly.

 

It's not so much the progressive government as it is their trained lap dogs that do their bidding for them.... It's called the gay mafia which the progressive government backs via funding and other acts of legislation.... I mean we live in a country where you're either for gays or against gays -- citizens cant take a "I don't really care" position but if you DARE say anything bad about gays they will sick their dogs on you.

Like forcing Christians to bake cakes for gays.

Like forcing Christian dating sites to allow gays into their community.

Like forcing Christians to cover up their religious jewelry because it may "trigger" a homosexual.

Like pushing children to be gay.

Like telling college students to go out and have a homosexual sexual encounter and write an essay on it.

Like letting men use the womans bathroom because they "feel like a woman".

I can run down many more examples of the progressive gay mafia pushing a gay agenda on Christians (and the public in general).
