That won't happen because Dump has the emotional maturity of a spoiled 3 year old....and he has no intelligent understanding of the issues which makes him go all pouty when challenged........

 

Even though I voted for Trump, and I am sick of John McCain, that statement he made about McCain was offensive and made me cringe. I think he does respect those who serve, though, in general.

Senator Bloomenthal didn't make a misstatement about his service. He lied as surely as Hillary lied about taking sniper fire.

I don't think Trump was disparaging veterans. He was counter attacking one who lied about his service in Vietnam and another with whom he has a grudge. Worse, Trump earlier in effect called McCain a loser for being captured. Trump was wrong to attack McCain that way, but we all know he over reacts.

I served for four years and encountered some hostility when I returned home. Bill Clinton dodged the draft and lied to the authorities. No one cared then, because Bill was sexy to women and a good speaker. He inocculated me against hostility toward draft dodgers because they escaped military service. If they disparage veterans or service people as a class, I get angry. Trump was only going after two men.

No, McCain said any American personnel who die in combat were failures. He wants to make sure all their family members who lose a loved one in military service know the death was pointless and wasted. As president, he would have sent letters notifying of the death reading, "I regret to inform you that your son/daughter died a pointless violent death for which he caused the mission to fail..."

 

I agree with you, Apacharat.I will go further. Kerry and his anti- war activities were only a small part of the left's attempt to help North Vietnam. General Giap, I think said they won the war on American college campuses, and he was right. We won battles when it counted, but at home, we lost the will to go on. After Democrats took Congress when Nixon left, they cut off aid to South Vietnam. The North was testing the waters and to their shock it all fell apart before them.

I met some boat people years later, and I still blame the Democrats, Kerry, and others who helped create their tragedy.

 

A platoon leader in Vietnam gathered his men together after some one was shot or stepped on a mine. He explained what mistake the casualty had made to cause him to be hurt or killed. It seemed heartless, but the leader had a reason. He wanted his men to understand they had some control over their fates, and if they were very careful the odds were with them. It helped his men see being shot as part of a series of mistakes instead of a random event. I never met him, so I am extrapulating from how I would have coped.

 

At least these Democrats Senators went to Vietnam, most of the Republican ones were getting deferments, but I know that doesn't matter.
