I'll take your word for it. Nine players were hating on America. Many of us didn't like it. Trump then gave our opinions a louder voice. Then, in subservience to popular culture, more players chose to submit and they also demonstrated hate for America.

Where is your winning position here?

I think they are going with Kamala Harris. Hopefully they will lose several Senator seats in 2018. They wont be taking back the House.

I like the doubling of the std deduction.
I would like to see only std deductions.

I am always a fan of the KISS principle.

To me that has been the more frustrating part actually

It appears the players care more about attacking Trump than whatever message was originally being preached.

Trump is LITERALLY all we hear about when it comes to this topic. Makes me personally annoyed with football as I feel like I am being lied to similar to Awards Shows like the Grammy's etc

Do you "hate" your child when you tell them to stop doing something that is wrong?

No but I would stop giving his actions I thought of as "bad" the attention they are getting.

The more the players make this about Trump and disrespecting the flag (or at least let the conversation be pointed that way) the more viewers they will lose.

Hockey season has started. Plus the NBA is into their preseason games. That will pull some more away from football. Both the NFL and the MS Media got this one wrong. So some good comes of it.

Oh trust me, I know about hockey!!!!! Never been a big NBA fan, just don't really like the sport of basketball personally as it seems too individually driven.

My dad actually took me to the opening game the Mighty Ducks ever had back in 93'. Will never forget being 12 years old and entering the newly built "Marble Palace" only two cities away (grew up in Yorba Linda, CA)

--- strangely enough, I am actually good friends with Ryan Getzlaf's wife, she was two/three grades below me in high school and I dated two of her friends. He is INCREDIBLY nice.

I am a HUGE Ducks fan and always thought hockey was the best sport to watch live and on TV. I just love football for how into it we all get, fantasy football and cheering/jeering with/at friends.

    But yeah, I love hockey!

None demonstrated hate for America. That is not what the original protests were about.
The other 200 were protesting a loud mouths words.

That not how you should be interpreting. Football players do not like to be told what they should or should not do or which of them should or should not be fired by someone who is not their boss. This was an entirely predictable response to his arrogance. He was exploiting those nine players to shore up his base. You can't convince me that he gives a rats ass who kneels and who doesn't at a football game during the anthem. You sure won't be persuading them.

Perhaps, unfortunately for the players and the NFL, that is not how the fan base is taking it.

It is getting really bad for the NFL....

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color," Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game. "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."

Well certainly, the thing for you to do is out-do all those who have pandered slander before you, so you can be the top dog. I mean, if that is all that is important to you, which I think is probably right.

Well, they are correct, his ratings are horrible in polls.

But he won with those numbers.....

So it either means the polls are completely BS, or the poeple simply do not care.

But if you look at his unfavorable ratings going back since 2014, they have never been much over 40%, ever according to any of the polling outt here

Fans follow their teams in some cases for 50 years or more

But the unpatrotic players sometimes only hang around 5-10 years if they are lucky

So for owners to pander to the players and piss on the fan base is not very smart

No, this is not only about Trump now. Your OP was aimed at the voters, complete with insults.

A lot of people complain about the polarization of our country and the level of vitriol between the sides. Your OP is a good example of it. It is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Not only did you fail to rebut my post you made things worse. You need to revisit the definition of slander and criticizing the president's character, however viscerally one does it, does not come near any definition of slander. But lets assume yours. Trump was my role model. The fact that his propensity towards character assassination, both as candidate, and as leader of the free world, does not apparently concern you enough to consistently condemn his 'slanders', puts your character in doubt more than mine. Would more my producing more examples of his namecalling, give you an opportunity to improve your hypocrisy score today? I am just here to help.

Yup, I thin this is true.

This is why they say do not bring politis up in the work place, it always just ends up hurting you or your business.

For Trump, it was just another polarizing piece of info that he could Tweet out about.

Now, the Left has taken those two Tweets and turned it into the next Watergate. People are just so sick and tired of the politics and the fact that the anti-Trump stuff has entered the NFL, has pissed off Trump voters and just pushed away a lot of people in the middle.

I personally do not want to see/hear politics in any of my sports.

Anyways, whether you agree with Kaep's original message, the new message that seems to basically be anti-Trump, or both .... the only certainty is that this will hurt the NFL in the long run.

With all of the illegal stuff as well as the Concussion Stuff (which for years I have been discussing with people if it will trigger the NFL's downfall) the NFL is in serious, serious trouble.

I don't think this sort of thing is helpful.

I have posted many angry responses to things Trumpsters have put up on this forum, particularly when some of them are being openly racist, and others are just trolling in general.

However, I think there are plenty of well meaning honest people who voted for Trump.

    Give them their due.

I sense that the buyer's remorse is happening, and that Trump's support is fading among people who generally don't follow politics actively and who bought "drain the swamp" or MAGA because the slogans appealed.

Other conservative friends of mine are busy blaming Congress.

But another few months of this and even some of them will doubt. After all, the President, no matter who he is or what party he comes from is supposed to lead. And you need to sell Congress to do a significant portion of that.

As we have seen, Trump has been unable to move any significant legislation at all, and there is no indication that he will. His tax plan is already dead.

At some point, Trump will begin to cost the party that sold its soul to him. When that happens, his days are numbered. The only real thing between him and impeachment is Mitch McConnell.

I get it, I have been with "my" team for 19 years and it took an Apocalypticsly bad ownership along with a move including the WORST reasons ever for me to leave!

But now that I don't really have a team, I find it hard to cheer for the sport on the whole and have found myself going to college football.

But the politics stuff definitely isn't helping to gain my interest into picking up a new team
