Should executive privilege apply to Trump's tax returns?

You are MAKING oversight SUBJECT to the vetting of the one vetted.

What discovered by oversight has EVER not been embarrassing?

Guyzilla ... Congress passes laws and authorizes the spending of money. The Executive Branch carries out those laws. That is what Congress has oversight over - how that money is spent and what those agencies are doing. That is oversight.

Invading a person's privacy, for no criminal reason, just for pure politics, is not "oversight".

The average person couldn't understand Trump's tax returns and neither could the dem clowns. But that won't stop the likes of Maxine Waters, Ilhan Omar, Coons, Swalwell and Nadler from continuing to lie about the evidence they have. How can anyone support the democratic party?

Well, at this point the idea that Robert Mueller "dashed" any notion that the Trump campaign tried to collude with the Russians, is nothing more than Trump and talk radio wishful thinking.

Prohibition and walls are not comprehensive immigration reform. And we can see how indifferent right wingers really are to reform by their lively and lengthly posts on Trump's immigration proposals, which sank into obscurity on arrival last week.

Lastly, I'm not sure why you delight in being conned, but you appear to.

You have no idea whether the IRS is satisfied (although Trump did install his tax attorney as head, so, I'm sure that he's "satisfied").

It is a PRIVACY issue not an executive privilege argument. The notion that congress should be able to pull up anyone's tax records for any purpose they want should scare they hell out of anyone that gives a damn about personal liberty. Sadly the goose stepping left doesn't really give a damn about personal freedom save in regard to self destructive impulses where they seem to be in favor.

No, he shouldn't use executive privilege. Instead, Democrats need to respect the laws. Tax returns are private and subject to the Privacy Act. The President is also an American and entitled to privacy. Democrats are determined to find anything they can use against the President to embarrass or use as an excuse for impeachment.

The Democrat party is out of ideas and only have personal destruction left to win elections. Sad.

This is an abuse of power attempt by the dems. It's no different than Obama using the DoJ to conduct a the three year investigation about "Russian collusion." Both are based upon rumors, innuendo and "what if" conspiracy theories by Trump haters.

Just because you hate a person, and think they may be capable of some nefarious crimes, is not sufficient to start a criminal investigation. Besides, the House is not a criminal investigative body. If the Speaker of the House and her cronies think some person might have cheated on their taxes, they submit their concerns to the IRS. That is how it has always been done.

Demanding eight years of tax returns and financial documents, and summoning over one hundred people associated with Trump to appear before Congressional committees, is a witch hunt. They have no specific criminal act, they just want all of this, so they can look for something, anything to pin on Trump. It's a disgusting abuse of power for purely partisan political party purposes.

aS you right wingers so eloquently put it, there was no word for PRIVACY as we now see it. It used to refer to going potty.

Used to deny the right for women to decide. Now, you try to USE it in a constitutional way>? The nerve.

The foolishness. Killing people where ever they currently reside isn't an issue of privacy it is an issue of murder.

Let them huff and puff to no avail. The dems have jumped the shark and it will only help reelect Trump, in order to deny these TDS afflicted fools any more power. I think the dems will lose the House in 2020, as well as the presidency.

"They have no specific criminal act,"

No, they have a whole Chinese (or should I say Russian) menu!

Vastly different things here your tax returns are not E-mails that the government requires you to archive on government servers.

The obvious thing the leftist just cant quite get thru to their brain is, Trumps returns have been scrutinized for 10 years by the IRS.. Seriously what sort of delusion do the left hold on to that convinces them that IF their was anything serious to have him in court for it certainly would have happened LONG before he ever ran or became a President..

IT'S WHAT THE IRS DOES FFS :)

Actually, according to Mueller. The obstruction of justice case lays itself out in 200 pages. Since then, Trump has continued to obstruct right out in the open.

As for collusion, no direct evidence was found that the Russians colluded with the Trump team. But the enthusiasm for such collusion by people in the Trump campaign is readily apparent, and morally treasonous.

Trump is desperately trying to hide his financial from public scrutiny because of his dependence on the Russians and because of the money laundering that his shaky and shady real estate empire depends on.

Mueller did not "follow the money"

Which is the first thing you should be doing with a schmuck like Trump and his gangster friends.

You don't have the slightest idea whether that is even true. Just because Trump bellows it, does not make it so.

And tax violations are not the point. Where the money comes from, who owes whom, and the money laundering are the point.

And that's what Trump does not want you to know.

but doesn't Federal law allow certain Congressional committees to see his returns?
but didn't he promise to release his tax returns?
If the law says it's ok and he said he would release them I don't see what the problem is here.
