Give me “chikin” or give me death. That’s a cause Sen. Lindsey Graham is apparently willing to go to battle over. The South Carolina senator has pledged his allegiance to the Chick-fil-A flag in tweets condemning some University of Notre Dame students’ resistance to the fast food chain opening a restaurant on campus.

“It’s disappointing to hear some ND students and faculty want to ban Chick-fil-A from doing business on campus because they disagree with the values held by the Chick-fil-A founders,” the senator wrote in a follow-up tweet. “What a dangerous precedent to set.”

“I want everyone in South Carolina and across America to know I have Chick fil-A’s back,” his final tweet read. “I hope we don’t have to, but I will go to war for the principles Chick fil-A stands for. Great food. Great service. Great values. God bless Chick fil-A!”

Anybody remember when Lindsey Graham used to be an important figure in US politics?? Me neither...

He's really LASER focused on the problems affecting most Americans.... as are most of the New Millennium Do-Nothing Party.

I think it's sort of cool that the top Catholic university in this country is near the head of the pack in fighting against intolerance in the name of religion (among other issues with this company).

Anybody really have a problem with a segment of students at a respected university making a stand for who gets to sell decent, yet zealous and overpriced, chicken on their campus??

Anybody think this is anything a US Senator needs to get involved in (especially at this stage) when the argument is not even in his FREAKING state?

I lived out that way for several years. I don't really understand the hype about their food. It's okay, but it's not a show stopper or anything. I don't particularly care for their politics but I'm also not trying to decide if I should vote for any of them. They make chicken sandwiches. That's the end of my engagement with them.

Graham is a whackadoodle. I don't look to him for my stand on anything so his opinion doesn't matter. I'm willing to bet the farm that he is pandering to the religious niche market. They don't really care who they hate as long as they are in the echo chamber and use each other for validation.

Any chance to mention God on Twitter must be exploited. That's all this is; pandering to evangelicals.

There was a time when I liked Lindsey. Do I remember it? No.

I like that... good one sentence summary of the right in 2021...

But you have to admit Graham used to be an important figure in the GOP Senate... Now, they really don't have one.... they're all just khao** to me

I haven't decided there is anything concrete worth fighting about. This looks like a major symbolism drama that both sides of the political spectrum want to wage war about. That usually means both sides want to use this issue to make money off of.

if they have other fast food chains on campus, they need to allow them all - can't play favorites

personally, why do we need fast food on campus, just a campus buffet where students work to help pay their bills works for me

I'm sure that the students would much rather have the wholesome food from Aramark slapped on their trays 3 times a day.

I'm sure the students don't care. If they like Chick Fil A, they'll buy the food. If not, they won't. A few students and faculty will always protest something. Doesn't mean a thing.

Lindsey Graham on the other hand is bizarre.

We already know what a craven coward Lindsey is.
He used to be McCain’s loyal lapdog and after he died, he became trump’s bitch because he’s just a sycophant at heart.
It’s amazing anyone would ever vote for that coward.

They have a right to freedom of expression and religion. If they do not violate any public accommodation laws it looks a hell of a lot like tyranny to deny them their business.

There are worse things he could focus on.

Frankly I don't even see why this made any sort of news. I'm sure there are other things that leftists could trash on him for. Things with more substance. Guess its just a slow news day.

Well the effort to stop Chick-fil-A from building restaurants is an effort to blackball them for God knows what reason now.

I wish more politicians would stand up to this sort of corruption. I would consider it official misconduct to try and block a particular restaurant from doing business and just because you disagree with them politically maybe at one point.

How could the poor little darlings afford a mustard sandwich much less Chic-fil-A, being crushed by that racist, sexist, fascist, homophobic, xenophobic student debt?

This is a fine example of fashionable leftism, wherein politics extends to every realm. Myself, I'm apolitical in my menu preferences.

It would be, if they were denied based on the protests of a few students and faculty. But that's not gonna happen. The company's success or failure here rests with people's appetites.

Point is, if a company wants to take a social stand, especially an unpopular one, it's gonna feel some pushback.

Perhaps its just me, but I find this to be an odd choice for Graham to be willing to go to war to defend. Shall we call his bluff on this one? And what power does he have to go to war? And wouldn't he be fighting against fellow Americans? Actually, not just Americans - but University students! All over their using their constitutional right to oppose a business setting up shop on their campus!
