The "Anchor Baby" phenomenon has been very successfully leveraged by an increasingly radical Democrat Party since the mid-1960's to increase the number of voters who become loyal Democrats. Now, to provide enhanced enlightenment to your understanding of the "Anchor Baby" paradigm, consider: https://www.conservapedia.com/Birthright_Citizenship

As one who describes himself as a teacher, you may enjoy these highlights from this link:

"Birthright Citizenship is the practice of granting U.S. citizenship to children born in the United States, including those born to illegal aliens. The practice is based on a misunderstanding of the first sentence of the Fourteenth Amendment (1868 )".
"The purpose of the amendment was to assure that former slaves were granted full civil rights, including the right to vote."

Interesting facts completely ignored by the radical Left: "Children born to foreign diplomats while in the United States do not thereby become American citizens. American Indians were not granted citizenship by the Fourteenth Amendment, but rather by the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924." :icon_jawdrop:

"A 2017 Congressional Budget Office report estimated that 4.5 million anchor babies lived in the U.S. – even greater than the number of children born in the U.S. every year." [IMG]

No. Accurately quoted Supreme Court rulings are not "fake news" even if you don't like them.

“To deny an exemption to claimants who engage in certain forms of speech is, in effect, to penalize them for such speech. Its deterrent effect is the same as if the State were to fine them for this speech.”
    https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/357/513/

Conservative Republicans, supportive of the free market and free speech, do not support the authoritarians:

... I don't believe that government should be punitive against private businesses because we disagree with them. That's not the right approach either," Hutchinson said. "And so, to me, that's the old Republican principle of having a restrained government... But let's not go after businesses and punish them because we disagree with what they said."

So called "anchor babies" such as Marco Rubio aside, citizenship by jus soli is guaranteed under the Fourteenth Amendment, and has been the law of the land since1868.

Do differing demographics exhibit partisan preferences? Indeed! Just look at the radical Oath Keepers, Proud Boys, Three Percenters, and other xenophobes among the Trump goons savaging outnumbered police defending Congress and democracy on January 6, 2021.

The "automatic citizenship" promise for Cubans has been even more effective for Republicans to boost their ranks (over 2 million).

Aw c'mon, Natty... don't be another one of these hyperlib clowns who always have to push a "Trump, Trump, Trump" meme forward every time somebody 'gores the ox' of the Democrat (sic) Party. For what it's worth, it is probably fair to say that for different reasons, neither you nor I want to have Trump back in the White House, but that's a different thing altogether.

Please re-read my Post #1102 above and focus on the 'meat' of the Anchor Baby controversy -- the actual INTENT of the Fourteenth Amendment, which was mangled into a vehicle to allow this 'citizenship' travesty to begin in earnest in this country during the radicalization of the Democrat (sic) Party in the United States back during the 1960's:

"Birthright Citizenship is the practice of granting U.S. citizenship to children born in the United States, including those born to illegal aliens. The practice is based on a misunderstanding of the first sentence of the Fourteenth Amendment (1868 )".
"The purpose of the amendment was to assure that former slaves were granted full civil rights, including the right to vote.
    "

The purpose, Natty, was to make certain that a population of former SLAVES were accorded full citizenship in this country after the Civil War -- not to provide a mechanism for any pregnant woman who wanted to enter this country to give birth here, and then get her, her baby, and the whole extended family connected to "welfare-for-life" (in return for voting DEMOCRAT, of course....).

Your personal hyper-partisan view of the well-established respect for jus soli as a legitimate qualification for citizenship is noted.

Don't attempt to entice Senator Rubio into pushing for revocation. If other Republicans are promoting such nativist legislation, I doubt they'll succeed.

Its something about that victim mentality, and gets them to think the whole world is always against them.

It's fake news and not applicable:
    1. Based on a CA case decided by the US Supreme Court
    2. About a widely applied tax exemption available to thousands and thousands of filers, not 6 highly privileged corporations.
    3. Was withheld based on speech, not pre-1968 grant.
    4. Withheld from everyone that would not make a particular statement whereas the tax carveout was removed from all entities that received it prior to 1968, not just Disney.
If Disney thinks this action violates their special privileges, why haven't they filed in the nearest Court and requested an injunction?
Special carve outs are not "free market" and sexually grooming young children in the K-3 classroom and concealing it from their parents isn't "protected free speech". Do you support these same teachers reading Bible stories to the children before nap time?
I disagree, it was improperly restrained government that granted special privileges to these massive corporations in the first place. Ending the older ones, those put into place before 1968, is a decision I support.

Do you support "Operation Choke Point" where the Federal government coordinates with Big Banks to withhold financial system access to those that the Obama Administration and many on the Left are ideologically opposed to?

    [IMG]https://thehill.com › blogs › congress-blog › politics › 415478-operation-choke-point-reveals-true-injustices-of-obamas-justice
Operation Choke Point reveals true injustices of Obama's ...
"Federal officials pressured banks to close the accounts of businesses solely because they were ideologically opposed to their existence. This runs counter to the very principles of due process and..."

Aw, hell, Natty... I'm not going to argue with you about this. I like you, besides I'd a hell of a lot rather see Marco Rubio in the White House than to ever see Donald Trump in there again. Anyway, the whole rotten favorable Anchor Baby interpretation is 'water under the bridge'... the Democrat Party scored this stupendous achievement long ago, and now we've got MILLIONS of Anchor Babies and other de facto illegals crapping up the entire country and sucking it dry... and nothing can ever stop it now.

Oh -- and just wait until Geriatric Joe and Kamala-la-la-ding-dong are through with us! We won't even have a pretense of a a 'border' anymore, and Democrats will never lose another election -- which was the whole idea behind 'Anchor Babies' in the first place....

OK, I'll try to make it even simpler, for those who need it ultra-simple: The Fourteenth Amendment (1868 ) was adopted to assure that former Negro slaves were granted full civil rights, including the right to vote. It was never envisioned to allow pregnant citizens of other countries to waddle across our border, give birth, and have the resultant offspring automatically claim to be a CITIZEN of the United States. You either 'get it' or you don't. At any rate, the damage is done, and it continues on to this very day. But rejoice! At the rate we're going, there won't even BE a "United States of America" in another hundred years....

NO, they said they support LGBTQ. They did NOT say they supported teaching children sex, that said they supported teaching inclusivity.

Yeah... typical Democrat 'newspeak' for hot-button political agenda items. "Inclusivity" of WHAT? And, why does such "inclusivity" need to be taught to anyone in the first place... especially if it involves sex practices?! Hint: that 'camel's nose under the tent' stuff is very easy to detect these days... and it ain't fooling anybody!

Yeah, uh-huh... hooray for your side. By the time this Biden regime is finally gotten rid of, we'll be DROWNING in even millions more illegal aliens, 'asylum' fraudsters, and anchor babies. What we HAVE is a 14th Amendment which was perverted out of any original context or intent by liberal schemers who wanted to allow pregnant citizens of OTHER countries to come in here and get permanently attached to the American handout welfare system for the rest of their lives, in return for solid political support. There! You have YOUR spin, and, I have mine.... :nana:

c'mon polly. Talking about people being different has been taught for years. Nobody was talking about sex, they were merely pointing out that sometimes one of these kids may have 2 dads, or 2 moms. Are they not supposed to explain why, and that that is OK ? The right in this country is making this about texhing sex which is ridiculous, but for the right, its to be expected

Current law regarding ius soli citizenship reflects the traditional American view that had distinguished America since its founding (with a decade of racism intruding.)

In Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) the darling of the extreme right, had launched a legislative campaign to end the scourge of "anchor babies," as he referred to Americans like Marco Rubio who had qualified for citizenship under the 14th Amendment. He repeatedly introduced bills to deny American kids citizenship if their parents were from abroad.

King had hyped his nativism by claiming there was a nefarious scheme by Hispanics to infiltrate the U.S.

He left office in disgrace, but his nativism continues to fester.

Birthright citizenship had been a matter of common law from the founding of the nation. But in 1857, the Supreme Court suspended the customary practice, ruling no person of African ancestry could ever become a citizen of the United States even if born here.

In 1868, the racist ruling was nullified by the 14th Amendment, and ius soli is, once again, respected.

Both Andrew Jackson's parents were immigrants from Northern Ireland but, born here, he, like many before and after, qualified for U.S. citizenship from birth.

Anyone born in the US is a US citizen. This does NOT change the immigration status of a child's mother or father. No "anchoring."

There is no such thing as an "anchor baby." Being a US citizen does not "anchor" his or her parents in the US by altering their immigration status at all. And it is folly to assume that all US citizens whose parents came here illegally will grow up to vote democrat.

Unfortunately for your example, Andrew Jackson was dead decades before either the end of the Civil War or the 14th Amendment. :nana:

Andrew Jackson was born in the British American Colonies in what is now the United States, in the region between North Carolina and South Carolina -- and, was thus from the beginning of this country a fully-fledged American citizen... as much as any other former subject of the English Crown prior to the American Revolution.

I could add that when Andy's parents immigrated over the British Colonies, there were no (NO) handout welfare systems. If you came here, you were 'on your own hook' and from the moment you landed on the dock, you had to provide for yourself. There were no hyperliberal 'migrant advocacy' groups that took you by the hand and guided you safely to an unearned 'good life'.... Can't you find someone else to use that better suits your point...?

[IMG]They put him on a 'Twenty', but his people never got any welfare handouts....

The Reedy Creek Improvement District, THE ONLY special Tax district in the state of Florida ever given to a for profit corporation, was given to develope an amusement park, to promote tourism. And instead Disney now declares-

"Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that."

Withdrawing a special privilege given to only one corporation, witheld from every other corporation operating in the state of Florida, isnt punishment. It is the end of a special privilege.

They didn't just question it, they jumped into the lying fake news disinformation campaign that slandered the Free People of FL claiming that they had passed a "Don't Say Gay Bill" and in the process lost their previous broad support for a special perk that that the Free Citizens of FL had previously bestowed on them.
She'll sooner be president of the universe.

Reuters: Florida Governor DeSantis ends ‘corporate kingdom’ of Walt Disney World. “Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Monday signed a bill that takes control of a special tax district surrounding Walt Disney World that for half a century allowed Walt Disney Co to operate with a high degree of autonomy.”
