Poll: U.S. majority supports Jan. 6 criminal charge against Trump

In the immediate aftermath of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, a Washington Post-ABC News poll found that a 54 percent majority of Americans believed Donald Trump should be criminally charged for inciting the riot.

Sixteen months after the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol, a slight majority of Americans say former president Donald Trump should be charged with a crime for urging his supporters to march to the building on Jan. 6, 2021, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll. The poll finds 52 percent saying Trump should be charged and 42 percent saying he should not.

While I still believe in justice, I doubt Trump will be prosecuted for what he did.

But there's hope.

If by some miracle he were to run again and win the nomination, 54% of voters would never vote for him.

Trump would therefore start his 2024 campaign with a deficit of +12 million votes.

 

I think people don’t know what inciting a riot entails.

Saying: "Burn this ---- down" could be considered inciting a riot. Sadly he wasn’t even charged.

Saying: “…peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard” is nowhere close to the above statement.

Both statements occurred. Riots ended up happening in both cases. If saying the first thing is not inciting a riot, then saying the second is most definitely not.

 

Your 54% who would vote against him is a flawed argument

The choice is not Trump or no one. It is Trump vs, potentially Biden

A lot more people then you think will look at the price of gas, eggs, other food products, etc, hold their nose, and vote for Trump

The right is in denial about the 2020 election
The left is in denial about the 2024 election

 

Sorry, 54 percent of 500 people poled is not 54 percent of all Americans.

Ark, man...You crunched those numbers incorrectly.

People over the age of 18.
People who are are American citizens (by birthright or naturalization).
People who were not incarcerated at the time of the poll (or won't be by 2024).
People who are eligible to vote.
People who are willing to vote.
People who register to vote.
People that actually vote.
People that think he should be criminally charged but can't bring themselves to vote non-R or abstain.
People that think he should be criminally charged but will assume he's "innocent" if he is not charged. [That's false. We don't have a verdict of "innocent" in this country].​

Therefore, 54% of <the total number of people polled> does NOT equal 54% of people that would vote against Trump.

 

The explanation for that is simple.
Polls are created to get the desired answers.
On election eve, 2016, CNN had a poll which they happily declared "Clinton 89% - Trump 11%".
Who did they actually poll to get those results or did they just manufacture them like the democrat and mainstream media has done for just about everything regarding Trump?

 

You'd have to be pretty desperate to get that out of Trump's ass.

 

Polls don't matter when it comes to criminal charges. It is called the law and justice for a reason. And since the left still has not brought charges, it appears the law and justice says they don't have the evidence or cause to do so. We are 16-months removed from that date and still no charges. Just the facts here.

 

It's called getting a good solid case.
Don't worry, it'll go quick once it happens. I expect Trump to be in jail by June with about 6 Senators and 6 more awaiting trial..
This may be the first midterm where the Republicans lose because most of them are in jail.

 

That's why the 'plan' is to have the elected state houses vote for him instead while minimizing the voter base.

Judge; "My Trump, you are accused of inciting an insurrection, defined as a "violent uprising against an authority or government", what do you say in response to the charge?".

Trump says nothing but shows the clip of his speech to his supporters; "I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard."

Judge; "Case dismissed"

 

It's a good thing our Justice System isn't based on polls. IE: Popular vs unpopular. Can you imagine such a system? I can. So have others. It's not pretty.

Here, it's 54% who want Trump prosecuted.

And only 42% are against it.

We already had him in November 2020.

Btw your poll is from the Washington post. An EXTREMELY liberal rag. Which is behind a paywall and doesn’t allow us to see its methodology.

But if we could I GUARANTEE you they oversampled democrats and undersampled republicans. Want to bet?

Do what you did in 2020, ignore this poll and keep believing that Trump is popular.

Trump is still popular amongst republicans. Overall his popularity is down. A number of his candidates did get through the primaries.

I don't think the Republicans will even have the wherewithal to field a candidate by 2024 and certainly none will win for several decades
