As I said, most every American today is a 5th generation citizen. Most know nothing about their original ancestry. And most are very very mixed.

Those look like tanker cars. That's going to be difficult to distinguish.

'The bridge is regarded as a key supply route for Russian troops in southern Ukraine'...

Guess a truck blew up or something. A lot of explosives are being shuttled around, but, this is the last place that Russians needed to make an error an blow a key bridge that they desperately need. Bad luck.

 

I wonder if the bomb was simply planted on the truck without the driver's knowledge. Alternatively, maybe some kind of small kamikaze drone was flown to the spot and struck at the right time and place to make it look like a truck bomb.

As with the airbase attacks, this one leaves us with far more questions than answers.

 

Which was at least a secondary goal, I'm sure.

 

My guess would be this is the work of Ukrainian special operations forces, supported by local partisan resistance.

 

I can only agree, though the question of method remains.

 

Several outlets have claimed a truck bomb went off and that explosion caused secondary explosions on the train cars (probably fuel tankers but maybe something else like munitions or something). Some other smaller youtube channels are making claims about some sort of boat under the bridge but that sounds like conspiracy stuff right now.

Interestingly, there is a truck inspection station on each end of the bridge which supposedly has equipment to identify explosives. Shouldn't that have caught this truck which was driving from Russia to Crimea?

 

There's security video of the truck exploding.

 

That would me that was a suicide truck bombing. There would have had to have been a driver inside the truck when it exploded.

Yep, assuming the bomb was indeed on or in the truck and the driver was aware of it AND triggered it.

 

It's a fair point, but there's limit to the public advice I'd want from an unctuous Frenchman.

 

It's unlikely the bomb was in the truck. It was probably secured under the roadway.

 

Safely transporting flammables, explosives and munitions is a task that done correctly requires a number of safeguards, a properly prepped truck with spark arrest features and an operator carefully following procedures. I'm sure that Russians are transporting such things over this bridge as the need arises. If they are just throwing all this into a standard truck and using a dumbass driver who is probably smoking and using a non spark proof phone, bad stuff can happen without warning.

Our troops do such a good job projecting power that I think the rest of the world does not understand all that goes into doing that safely and effectively.

It starts in boot camp with the sargents thoroughly kicking their asses and it builds from there with rock solid discipline through every step. I think the Russians are demonstrating what happens if you try to short cut all those steps with conscripts.

 

It's unsettling that our President always looks like the dumbest most unprepared person in any room, struggling to stay connected with what is going on around him.
