. TBH, the word "traitor" bothers me. It's not that most leftie hate the country, it's just that they've suffered through years of LW propaganda masquerading as "education".

Trump is a traitor to his oath of office. Impeached twice. Indicted for crimes, soon most likely to be indicted on espionage charges.

We aren't less proud, just more realistic. I love my country, warts and all. Just because I don't support or approve of many of our actions here and abroad doesn't mean I'm not a patriot.

Today's China is more capitalist than the US. That's what makes them so dangerous.

Without China I would have much less money.

Of course. However I don't love its federal government.

 

I disagree with all of that. Xi is a dictator. It is a political system. It has a capitalist economy. It is less capitalistic than us. Government meddles with business there to a level we wouldn't accept here. I am also a reseller of Chinese goods. The reason is that they are what people want. Businesses must provide what people want in order to be successful.

 

You don't really love America as a whole, you only love your very small myopic version of it that you see in your white rural town. In contrast, you hate big cities, liberals, minorities, african-americans, foreigners, immigrants, in other words, all of America that is not like your small town. I would recommend to get out of your town more, travel can broaden your horizons and open your eyes.

I love America and wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the entire world. But that doesn't mean I have to love America blindly. I wouldn't ignore negative qualities in my children and I won't ignore it in my country either. In fact, it is because I love my children and my country that I want them to do better.

 

And so is kissing the butt of any politician with whom you disagree. Patriotism does not mean that you blindly support the person who is a current office holder.

I don’t like Trump. I have a lower opinion of Biden.

Funny, I’ve heard progressives saying that the history and heritage of America are shameful and marked by oppression for over 20 years. That used to be comments from academics and progressive commentators. Now it’s in school curriculums.

I think you are putting words in his mouth that he didn't say. I hate cities also. I don't hate them because of liberals, minorities, foreigners etc. I hate them because they are crowded and life there has less freedom that I enjoy apart from them. I've been in every state of the union and in every major city. I choose not to live in a city or even visit one unless I have to. That doesn't affect my affection for America. It is just a lifestyle choice. We can have such choices in the U.S. I'm speaking for myself, not for the poster to whom you responded.

 

A little hyperbole doesn't go very far. Sorry you missed the 1950's. They were America at its best.
