And their families also get threatened and harassed.

Aren't humans just wonderful? What more could a 13yo rape victim need.

I hope this isn't a show of Christian love and support.

none of which existed when most of the inane anti Trump hatred started. The anti Trump insanity began when the Democrats realized the wicked witch of the west wing was not going to be president

so is genital mutilation. In most cases, abortion is not for the health of the mother

Abortion is legal in Mississippi due to rape. You can't force a doctor to perform an abortion even before Dobbs. If they can't afford an abortion that's a socio-economic problem.

No doctor want to perform an abortion in Mississippi due to harassment.

    Bull.

That means they could not get an abortion for their raped daughter.

And, THAT is what defines their law.

    False.

The OP rape victim and here parents tried to get an abortion.

Their law calls for getting an exception.

    And, they were refused.

Nothing you make up can change that fact.

then I guess getting an abortion was not that important. and where are all the rich lefties who think abortion is a more important right/rite than ones actually set forth in the bill of rights?

so it's not the law that was the problem but interpretation or the application

It doesn't matter. This is NOT the first case of denial of abortion in Mississippi in cases of rape. I gave a cite on that earlier in this thread.

Mississippi prevented them from getting an abortion when their 13yo got raped.

How they prevent rape victims from getting abortions is for THEM to work out. What we KNOW is whether they allow abortion.

It is still their Republican state government that is preventing these abortions fpr rape victims, including rapes of children.

You seem to be the one making things up. The mother said she couldn't afford to make a nine hour travel cost on top of the abortion. Again, you can't force a doctor to perform an abortion.

Her mother told the press, "I don't have the funds for this."

That came after not being able to get an abortion for her daughter in Mississippi.

She didn't have the funds for going out of state.

This IS an aspect of these Republican laws. It's a direction that targets low income citizens, while others CAN travel.

What do you mean the abortion wasn't important? Just because you don't have the funds doesn't mean it's not important.

Haven't you heard Biden's economy is the worst economy in recorded history. People can't afford to put bread on the table, pay their rent or gas, but it must not be important if they don't have the funds for it.

Socioeconomic factor?! You know the thing you just said was false. Thanks for proving yourself wrong. Feel free to step out any time now. Probably should have read more up front.

what are you really complaining about

    1) a duly passed law by the citizens of the state
    2) the application of the law
    3) the GOP in general

Don't care. I don't have the specifics of the case. Personally, I don't see why she couldn't go somewhere else.
And that could have been an amendment to the bill had the Dems and Republicans truely wanted to end the debate. The Dems shut the door, took their ball, and went home. That's not the way to fix things. Honestly, the GOP would have probably also not let it pass. Like I said, they all make money and votes on the abortion issue. Why kill the golden goose?
