yeah that's the puzzler. The anti gun left wants to trumpet cases like this but you almost never hear anything about the hundreds of blacks shot each week by other blacks in places such as Chicago, Baltimore, East St Louis, Etc

    For your edification.

Drug User Can’t Be Barred From Owing Firearms, US Court Rules
    https://www.forbes.com/sites/darios...wing-firearms-us-court-rules/?sh=6f45158a4e7e
A federal appeals court has declared the application of a long-standing law banning firearm ownership for illegal drug users unconstitutional as it violates the Second Amendment.

This ruling, announced on Wednesday, August 9, involved the case of Patrick Daniels, a marijuana user. He had been found guilty under that law when police discovered a handgun, a semi-automatic rifle, and marijuana cigarette butts in his car during a traffic stop in Hancock County, Mississippi, in April 2022. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration didn't conduct a drug test, but Daniels admitted to using marijuana, which goes against federal law.

He was given a nearly four-year prison sentence for breaking 18 U.S. Code 922, also called "Unlawful acts," a part of U.S. law that lists prohibited firearm-related actions.

However, a trio of judges from the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, Louisiana, determined that the federal law violated a Mississippi man's right to possess and carry firearms, as established by the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

welfare? LOL. I am a retired municipal then Federal prosecutor. I am a long time professional level shooter (Skeet, clays, "action pistol") BTW it's almost impossible to be a world class shooter if you are on welfare.

are you trying to pick an argument? I don't believe the federal government has any such power. as to state governments and incorporation-that's one for the courts. Some constitutional rights are clearly lost by conviction of a felony. We clearly understand that other constitutional rights can be stripped by due process of law-such as the right of assembly. I personally oppose bans based on someone using weed but I also believe that ultimately, the supreme court will uphold the police power of a state to ban those CONVICTED of felony drug offenses from owning guns

Anyone who collects social security is on social welfare by definition. There is no shame in it.

Are you under the impression I am not aware of what a lone appellate court did? I believe we were both on a thread where that was discussed. I just don't think it is established nationally yet-same with a court striking down the 21 to buy a handgun federal law.

Yes, your earlier comment made it quite clear that you were not aware.

Not on SS-I am 64 and that is something I was forced to pay into. Most of us who had good paying jobs are losing money due to social security. I know that my financial advisor (my brother, summa at Columbia Business school) would have made me far more than I will get from SS if he had invested the money withheld from my 30 years of paychecks

Shooter was legally able to buy a gun - he was not a prohibited person.
So much for this being a gun control issue.

LOL wrong again. One court saying that is not the same as it being the law of the land. Go to Ohio and tell a gun dealer you have a medical marijuana card when you try to buy a handgun or when you go to the count sheriff to get a CCW permit

Literally everything mentioned in all the articles points directly to it, his own father found stuff that explicitly says it, and you’re still asking this question…..

We’re not talking about this forum, we’re talking about this shooter who actually did this and had all the writings to back it up so stop trying to skirt around this.

well since he is dead, we will never know with absolute certainty what his motivation is. and it really doesnt matter except to those who try to pretend that white supremacy is a major problem in the USA while ignoring the fact that most murders with guns are not perpetrated by whites

I would rather it had remained as it all was 15 or 20 years ago. This is NUTZ! Alternatively, I would like to see the crazies come to their senses and repeal the laws they passed like “stand your ground” and guns everywhere, and ban assault-style rifles, etc.

Do you think all these guns everywhere is good?

I think it's great that an 85 pound young lady can have somethig that gives her a chance against a 300 pound attacker.

why is it so important for many on the left to fixate on this shooter while ignoring the fact that thousands of blacks are killed each year by other blacks.

why does assault style (a bullshit term) rifles cause so much fear and trembling when knives are used in far more murders?
