    Yeah but it seemed to me that they were following the mob, not leading it. "Defund the Police" is too stupid to have ever filtered up to the national level if it weren't for the George Floyd riots...or insurrections as riots are now called.

    Why shouldn’t officers be responsible for their behavior? Try to explain it without the taste of boot.

    As to paying out of the department, that could be a ton of items that you couldn’t seem to conjure up — such as officers being required to have professional insurance, or the department’s being required to do so, retirement accounts, bonuses, fewer toys.

    Like I said — it requires nuance. Trying to explain it to people without the cognitive ability to even process basic events much less complex issues is a fools errand that none of us should even attempt.

    While they definitely need to ramp up recruitment which your article says they are doing — it looks like that department needed to lose some of those officers.

    Who is “you guys in this scenario”? I support large raises for officers, better training but higher requirements. I don’t think we should be giving the bully that flamed out in high school a gun.

    Defund = Do not arrest certain races and minorities, Look past their crimes or else you're a racist and a bigot.

    In no way, shape, or form does the word defund mean rebuild, but I'm not surprised the lefties came up with this excuse after they realized what a disaster defunding police has turned out to be.

    Yet what you decided to conjure up hasn’t been thought out at all. Expecting ofcrs to pay out of their own pockets is another nail in the coffin for an already under staffed area of our society. Try coming up with solutions without extreme unjustified prejudice against them.

    Republicans don’t have that either, but the right isn’t as angry as the left therefore aren’t so motivated to vote AGAINST someone than for.

    @cd8ed Ok, she responded. She said she was never in a meeting or received any communication about using that word. She suspects someone somewhere started using the word defend and it just caught on. She said she seriously doubts it's word her party would recommend anyone to use because it's too broad.

    A year or two ago when I was chatting with her she mentioned how important it is to to use the proper words when pushing an issue. The only thing I can still remember is how they framed abortions to women's health.

    Like I said a long time ago in reference to her and the people she works with, they're not all majors in political science, they have backgrounds in psychology.
