    'You cannot overstate the magnitude, the scale and the reverberating shock waves of Saturday’s attack on Israel. This is Yom Kippur 1973 all over again, with one fundamental difference: the toll on Israel in 1973 (3,000 killed) was exacted on the military. Saturday’s attack, sure to escalate, claimed civilian lives, terrorized an entire country and was insulting as much as it was lethal.

    The State of Israel and the Israel Defense Forces failed miserably to protect Israelis. It’s that simple. The speed with which the country’s leaders already started to shed responsibility and shift the burden of blame to the IDF is astounding, even by the very low Israeli standards of political accountability. This is Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s fiasco. He owns it, and he should and will be held accountable the day after the war ends.


    Yes, Israel is strong. Yes, Israel’s response will be ferocious and destructive, and yes, Israel will emerge out of this calamity. But the hard truth needs to be clearly stated, even when the numbers and names of the murdered are unconfirmed and the heartbreak is only beginning: This was an epic debacle, and there’s no way around it.'

    We would suffer the same fate right now if we were attacked out of nowhere. Most of our military would be too busy trying to figure out what gender they are while the bombs were falling....

    I think even Republicans would only see the attackers as the enemy in that case, they would not care the gender of the enemy

    lol, I would love to see an enemy force parachute into Chicago, Houston, Detroit, or East L.A. and see what kind of greeting they get....

    They could, however, parachute into Montana and probably live there for 20 years undetected, lol....

    There are more guns in the United States than there are people. Gun owners in the United States outnumber our entire combined military and law enforcement by 200 to 1, as it should be. So no, they will never be "taken'.....

    Barzilai hospital in Ashkelon suffers rocket hit; no injuries reported

    The Barzilai Medical Center in the southern city of Ashkelon is hit by a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip. The rocket struck a bridge between buildings at the hospital.

    There are no immediate reports of injuries, but significant damage was sustained, a hospital official tells Channel 12.

    Israeli hostages rescued in Ofakim; terrorists killed

    An unspecified number of people who were taken hostage in a home in the southern town of Ofakim have been rescued by Israeli security forces, Channel 12 reports.

    Four terrorists at the home were killed, according to the report. At least one member of Israel’s security forces was injured.

    That is a reasonable guess, though there's no reason to believe that there would only be a single cause. This is also the 50th anniversary, of the 1973 Arab-Israeli War:

    Also, it should not be ignored that if a nation keeps two million people captive, crammed into a small, fenced in, guarded area, this will invariably lead to opposition from those people which, given enough time, and dire, hopeless circumstances, will predictably lead "terrorist" mindsets and philosophies to take hold, and gather strength.

    I think there are clearly a confluence of factors, here. It is not too great a speculation, to see in this attack, the hand of outside helpers of Hamas, of whom, Iran is the primary national sponsor. Yet, there are any number of reasons, including the prospective Saudi-Israeli peace deal, why Iran might consider this a good time for Hamas to strike Israel. It should be noted that Iran recently agreed to its own peace deal, with S.A.

    The mere fact that Israel is in the midst of experiencing political and related military turmoil, however, would also make this a very opportune moment, for Israel's enemies to take action against it. As we hear, there appears to have been a glaring failure of Israeli Intelligence-- universally held in lofty regard-- to have caught wind of this major attack. Further, the half-century anniversary of a what, no doubt, still looms large in the minds of Gaza residents, as a moment of glorious patriotic resistance, is obviously not a chance coincidence, but was clearly chosen for its symbolic significance.
