Got to go with Bill on this one USV .. It is the Ukraine side who has been taking the huge losses . 500,000 KIA .. Russia maybe a fifth .. 100,000. The idea that Ukraine has less casualties is ridiculous. Russia has been the defender here .. has been Ukraine throwing human waves at the Russian lines of defence .. line really as they never breached the first line ... Russia - the defenders .. having 10-1 artillery advantage .. and way better control of the Sky. the ukrarnians only putting infantry forward (aka human waves) because when the equipment goes into the grey zone it is immediately destroyed.

Ukraine is finished -- fielding women and Grand Fathers now ..at a cause that hasn't gained any ground since Russia retreated behind defenses early on in the war. since then has been a Ukrainian Sausage fest .. described by every side as "meat-grinder" .. war like never before .. Russian artillery - and bombs pinpoint targeted to Ukrainian attacks .. this has been going on ever since Bakhmut . - a mass slaughter of Ukrainian troops .. who are now out of ammo as predicted by all the pundits on both sides -- out of supplies -- and now out of trained combat ready human capital.

It is criminal at this point for Zelenski to be sending more soldiers to the front line - to die in a hopeless foregone conclusion. The fact that the media has forgotten Ukraine almost completely in favor of the Israeli Conflict is not a good sign -- if there was good news on the Ukraine front .. they would be reporting it .. despite Israel .. but, only more bad news for Biden's JV-Team Azov to report so they don't report at all .. all the news that's fit to print

I think the questions I raised about the claims and sources you linked are perfectly reasonable yet you're entirely ignored them. For example, do you have anything beyond the single out-of-context video to support the claim that the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has officially announced the figure quoted, in contrast to all the other evidence of Ukrainian officials, multiple third parties and the Russia government itself consistently quoting much lower figures through the war?

Do you have difficulty with reading comprehension? You do not understand the fact that the UKRAINIAN media claim that the losses of UKRAINIAN SOLDIERS exceed one million. Where is it written that this is an official statement by the Ukrainian Minister of Defense?
But if we take into account the fact that all (once again - all) opposition parties and media are officially banned in Ukraine, then if the leading Ukrainian TV channel shows such figures, it means that the channel has grounds for this.

(rough translation, it's a tricky language for a native English speaker). Did you actually check what it said or did you simply echo what you were told it said?

So, yet again, do you have any other source for that figure, given how significantly different it is to the figures from literally every other source, including independent sources and Russia itself, and that such a massive loss hasn't been picked up by any other news source, pro-Ukrainian or pro-Russian, beyond some random personal video?

I totally accept that it could have actually been reported on Ukrainian media but even that wouldn't automatically mean it was correct. Your story isn't that over a million Ukrainian soldiers are dead or missing, it is that this figure was apparently reported so casually on Ukrainian news.

It simply doesn't make sense that they would report such massive figure but only on a passive ticker and not as a major headline. Whatever the truth actually is (and I honestly don't pretend to know), there is clearly something more to it. Where is your intellectual curiosity?

If that is true, you should have some kind of meaningful response to it. I'm still not dismissing the possibility of that being an accurate figure but your single third-hand source remains inconsistent with literally any other. You seem to be presenting that figure as unquestionable fact for the sole reason that it is what you want to believe for some reason.

If I showed you a clip from Ukrainian media reporting the more commonly reported lower (though still disturbing) casualty figures, would you automatically accept that as truth too?

This is easily explained. Why should official Kiev say once again that Ukraine is suffering such heavy losses? It undermines morale. Just the fact that there was a single report of such losses indirectly proves the truthfulness of this information. Apparently the censors did not notice and there was an accidental leak of information. What should I do in this case? Yes, nothing can be done, but you can ban the media from spreading this news further to minimize the damage.

And answering why the Russian side gave a lower figure of losses, there may be several options. First, the commentators said "dead and MISSING." Where did the second category go? Apparently, some of them were captured, then naturally they are not taken into account in the Russian estimates of the dead. Secondly, the dead may lie unnoticed somewhere in the fields - they are also included in the "missing", but they were not considered dead by the Russian side.
Finally, some of the wounded Ukrainians could be taken to the rear, where they later died of their wounds. Observers from the Russian side consider them alive, but in fact they died.

 

Dead or missing: that 1,126,652 AFU servicemen were killed and missing fits in with the expected casualties
of a 10:1 ratio of Russian to Ukrainian artillery and the observed figure of 450,000 filled graves in the Ukrainian
military cemeteries, suggests around 45,000 dead Russian soldiers at that time.

I don't think all that is worthwhile just to get NATO moved one country further east.
