Ukrainian TV channel 1+1 reported the deaths of more than a million Ukrainians.

Especially given the fact that NATO was expanding eastward in violation of the treaties.

 

As I wrote a few days after the start of the current conflict:
Russia will not withdraw just because they lose some troops. It will end when either Russia is given some of Ukrainian land or Putin loses support from his population. Ukraine cannot win on the battlefield

Imagine how many lives would have been saved if my statement, which will inevitably happen, was followed, and how much better the world recovery from COVID would have been
