Who can issue an Executive Order at the federal level but the president? A month after he took over, Biden appointed Kamala-la-la as some kind of new "Border Czar" (Czarina?), ostensibly with extraordinary powers -- whereupon she did NOTHING! Then, three years ago, he put Alejandro Mayorkas in as Homeland Security Secretary -- whereupon he did NOTHING! Who is going to do SOMETHING?!

You mention the long history of this tragedy, and so I'll remind you that President Ronald Reagan worked with Democrats in the Congress to overhaul immigration significantly from top to bottom -- and what did Democrats do...? They reneged on the deal they had agreed to, making liars out of themselves while they betrayed Reagan and every legitimate, taxpaying citizen of the United States! And today's 'woke' Democrats are even less trustworthy than that pack of jackals were back in the 1980's who betrayed Reagan! So, again, who is going to do SOMETHING?!

Trump talked a lot about 'fixing the border', and he had the first two largely-unobstructed years of his presidency to do it... but when all the music died down and the microphones were turned off, Trump did next to nothing to solve anything!

It's so simple. Very briefly, you seal the border shut to all migration for an emergency national-security period, put troops on the border to keep anyone from crossing who isn't already an American citizen (and can PROVE it), and that's about it. Oh, you can go on for post after post after post (as I already have), but that's basically it. If someone would do at least that much for a few years, the problems would stop!

You've touched on a key area of criticism that many 'fat-cat' Republicans deserve! It's been a poorly-kept secret that wealthy business owners really love having access to a cheap labor pool, whether it's legal or not. Beginning back as far as World War II, they hired as many illegals as they could to do many kinds of jobs that involved little more than manual labor... and the costs were very low compared with hiring American citizens. Many were simply paid "under the table", with no records kept and no taxes paid.

That practice has continued to this day!

 

That's it! That is the way to get things done, by different individuals making suggestions, brainstorming if you will, and collecting those thoughts, eventually coming up with a legislated solution through cooperation and discussion, and some negotiation.

Btw, I like your thinking! A wall will not do it, but, imo, there are much more effective technological advanced ways to hinder illegal crossings.
If we can just get Congress to work together for solutions without playing the partisan politics game.
