I understand the term and psychology behind it. The term "open border" is an accurate description used to describe the parts of our border you conveniently kept out of frame in your picture.

Good grief. Are you deliberately missing the point?

We do make efforts to stem the illegal tide, but they're ineffective. They were too little under Trump because he did almost nothing to stop illegals from working here and he continued to grant visas that people overstay. Trump even had illegals working in his private golf course suite for more than two years.

Arguably, Biden has made things worse. Old Joe hasn't explained clearly (or at all) why he can't simply cut off asylum claims coming from Mexico and Canada. It's not as though we're living next to North Korea.
    Gaslighting Alert!

Your claim I'm drinking "kool-aid" is nonsense. I've been paying attention to this problem since I was a kid growing up in California in the 1950s.

You think I took the picture?

"Open border" is the usual MAGA noise to cover up the Orange Oaf doing almost nothing to catch employers hiring illegals or rounding up the millions who overstayed a visa.

Even fools know we have a serious problem on our southern border.

"MAGA" is a campaign slogan. People were fed that term to rebleat for the purpose of dehumanizing those with opposing beliefs. This is the same thing racists do. Trump also liked using cheap insults. Im not sure why you are trying to emulate him, but perhaps its out of admiration.

The picture you posted has the "open" part is out of frame. I could post a pic of the open part, but you already admitted that fools know there is a problem. Unfortunately, these fools are too busy fighting among each other to hold their party accountable.

Used by Trump and his supporters who say they're "MAGA.'
Yeah. I taught school to give something back, but I'm not someone who wants to "make American great again."
Past tense? No, he's channeling hate for his MAGA followers.
Seems as though you're doing the emulating.
When people join in with the Orange Oaf in propagandizing the border issue, flippantly misrepresenting what's going on as "open borders," it trivializes a really really important issue for the country. I don't think Donald Trump really cares about this country, or anyone anyone in it.

No, it's not the "same thing."

A truly "open border" might easily result in ten or twenty times as many people charging our border. When you trivialize the matter, people think we can easily stop illegals.
Thank you for your uniformed opinion.

For all intents and purposes, yes it is the same thing. Everyone knows what is being referred to. Nobody honestly believes that illegal immigration is now on the books as being legal. It is all about what is being allowed rather than what law is on the books. Those laws on the books are not being enforced. That is what is being called an open border. It is not technically legal, but for all intents and purposes, it is being treated as if it is legal. People coming in to this country from places other than legal ports of entry are not running from border agents, they are walking TO them.

For all intents and purposes, this indicates an open border. The argument over the terminology used is arguing over meaningless semantics.

The reason for the open border is staggeringly obvious:

To make the country less white and to make the voting block more liberal.

All emotion and no substance. The term "open border" is an understatement. We have a "Magnetic border". Trump did not secure the border, but Dems incentivize illegal immigration. Both parties are the problem. Dems are just worse.

First they want to destroy the country.....at the present rate we're unsustainable in 30 years according to the Fed, then remake it. It's a fast train that needs to be stopped!

Liberals think it's accidental and unfair that the white countries are more prosperous and civilized than the non-white countries.

Then, when their actions fail, they blame the white countries. 90% of the violent crime in America is committed by blacks and hispanics.

    It's a fact.

A covered up fact, but a fact nonetheless.

It's not really what the "elite" think though. They just use their emotional snowflakes as a tool to divide and conquer. It is a Marxist precept.
I believe it is sold to those with an unhappy childhood.

    You tried this one before.

Calling this an "open border" is a propaganda con...

I tried what once before? I think you may be confisuing me " I am FAW" with "fmw".

Oh I decided to google the definition of open border.....it says...

"Open borders refer to government policies allowing immigrants to enter the country with little or no restriction12. Borders may be open due to the absence of border control laws or the lack of resources needed to enforce such laws1. An open border is a border that enables free movement of people (and often of goods) between jurisdictions with no restrictions on movement and is lacking substantive border control2. It is a situation in which goods and people can enter and leave a country easily"

It seems that this overly technical definition that you keep insisting applies because of the existence of a legal crossing such as in your picture, is nothing more than a figment of your imagination. It is instead precisely what I described it to be.

    Would you imagine that?

We have an open border so Dems can replace US voters and depress US wages.

I'm sorry the truth doesn't work for you. The problem isn't giving them services, but in having them here in the first place.

We are a magnet for people, even more so when aspirants think they'll be able to jump the queue. That's why your claim we can solve the problem by border measures doesn't deal with people who overstay a visa or are here already. What you're proposing, and what Trump did with the cooperation of Mexico, isn't good enough. Besides, Obrador said Mexico won't cooperate by holding on to U.S. asylum seekers. Maybe he'll have to deport them.

Of course the problem is having illegal immigrants here in the first place. If you want them deported, like I do, then your truth works for me.

The first thing I want is for us to create a system where we make an effort to stop people at the border. after we create that and start to apply it, I want us to create a national ID that will put the onus on employers to check on every potential employee for the right to work, even for domestic help and day labor. Employers who violate the law should face nasty fines with egregious violations resulting in jail time for the employer. We can easily create a system that would allow us to check potential employees by having them submit fingerprints, Iris scans, etc. on smart phone. No smart phone? You can use someone else's smart phone.

Once we get an effective system in place, we can decide which of the illegal immigrants, any or all, are allowed to stay and possibly become citizens. I don't think a lot of people oppose to illegal immigration are prepared to say people can stay unless and until a system is created that assures an end to people getting across the border and then being able to find work and stay here indefinitely.

Hey, that works for me? Where do we have an issue? That could be done now. The laws are on the books!
