If many posting here claim they've been around African Americans... the meaning of their expressions here betray them.

I'm one of those Black Americans who is well accustomed to and comfortable with my cultural Whiteness... but I haven't been blinded by the same. I know what African Americans have endured in this nation (then/now), and I care about it; also help in the ways I can. So, as "White" as I am, that's where this Black-White Man is different.

So no, while I don't pretend to be or (necessarily) want to be the "Blackest" American... I am connected well enough to my roots, to know that everything MLK Jr. and others said/did, was important and significant. And now, here we have so many (certainly not all) White Americans BLINDED by their relative success; thinking it is 'okay' to blow-off the have-not's... foolishly IMAGINING that they will not be touched by the continued lack of success amongst Blacks and other minorities. And at the same time, they are being PLAYED by the corporations as many White Americans used to (and still do) play Black folks. Many are placed in the category of the NEW N-WORD, and are so blinded by 'whatever'... they either cannot or will not see it.

I think massive numbers of White Americans view African Americans at arm's length (surely not all).

And what needs to be CHANGED, promoted or encouraged, is many more White Americans saying out loud that African Americans do need a little more help overall. It is obvious. We (African Americans) cannot be at nearly twice the unemployment rate by mere 'chance'. No one but a blind fool buys that. There is a level of social engineering involved, to achieve that effect; and whatever those mechanisms are/were... they need to be defeated, in order for ALL AMERICANS to do better within this nation.

Yes, it is time for MANY MORE White Americans to realize and accept, that whatever it is that has caused African Americans to be "less" than Whites... is now bleeding-over into their own culture. And of course, whatever social poisons have hurt African Americans, were surely bound to spill-over into ALL of American culture; and many White American people did not sense that, until that imagined space between themselves and the less-fortunate Americans became less and less.

To put it simply, ALL Americans must thrive... in order for America to be 'okay'. Those with the literally STUPID mindset that "Blacks" or "Whites" must be defeated for them to 'make' it... are fools contributing to the very problems we face as a nation.

I'm trying to figure out how it would be that racists that don't deal with blacks would be the problem. If they aren't exposed to black people they aren't actually doing anything to discriminate against them by virtue of the fact they have no contact with them. It would seem the real problem would lie with the racists that do deal with blacks, as they would have the opportunity to actively discriminate or cause harm in other ways.

 

LOng enough to find any gainful employment as opposed to multiple generations on the welfare teat.

Probably not, since productive people have to pay taxes to support welfare bums for their entire productive lives.

One of my best friends was a black { mulatto like Obama } and he
eventually adopted an almost New Black Panther Party mindset.
I say it coming.Having taught him how to drink and having many
late night discussions about Social Policy and Race.He had a problem
with authority and hated most all his Professors.He got his Master's
and we had a falling out.It was over Morality.He was increasingly becoming
a cushy Liberal apologist over Morals.I tried to instruct him that Morals
aren't something that change with the Times.
