Oh you rotten little....beating me to other people's profile pages....stealin' all my "good conduct" points....grrrr!!! :nana: :ignore: :nana:
Hwy 10 by the Illinois is a great ride, and the weather was perfect for riding last weekend. We are in NW Arkansas, so we're practically neighbors. Dynas are nice bikes. My ex-b/f had a Dyna, I think a 2001, police bike that he modified so much you would never know it was a cop bike. The Road King is just nice, period. That's what I would want for a long trip. However, I did ride my bike to New Orleans a couple of years ago. After we had our bikes for a year, one of my friends and I decided to mark the anniversary with a road trip. We spent three days getting there, staying on 71 most all the way. A couple of other friends flew in and met us there and we spent three days in the French Quarter, then took another three getting home. That was an awesome experience and very educational as far as riding. We try to take some sort of trip every year and had one planned in mid-May, but she got sick with Rocky Mountain Spotted tick fever and spent four days in the hospital the weekend we were to go. We'll re-schedule it when she's back on her feet. Our route was to be from here to Hot Springs, spend the night, then back through Mena to Talahina, OK to spend the night, then back home. I know that's pretty country, but I haven't gotten to ride it yet on my own bike.
I have several girlfriends who ride, and three of them have bikes like mine. I got tired of not getting to ride, just because I didn't have a bike, you know. So, I took the class and have been riding ever since - about three years now. My husband has historically ridden BMW's but now has a Ducati Monster, since we do most of our riding in this area and he doesn't need a bike that will take him to Alaska again. He did a lot of cross-country riding before I met him, and after he was out of the Marines. We have a ball riding around here, and we certainly are a contradiction as a pair...lol. I feel pretty fortunate to have cut my teeth, so to speak, on these hills and curves. I feel like I could ride about anywhere, now. I agree with you about the Harleys - nothing will ever replace them, and rightfully so. I've always loved Harleys and may have one some day. It really is about getting out there and riding, no matter what you're on. I'm actually glad to see more different types of bikes. I know my Honda doesn't need nearly the maintenance that a Harley would, but that's part of owning a Harley, too. I looked at your pics in your profile - very nice. I've got to say, my favorite Harley is the Heritage Softail and then the Road King second. If I ever get a Harley, I'd like to have a Heritage. What part of Oklahoma are you in? There are some nice roads there, too.
Thanks for the welcome. The pic is overlooking the Mulberry river here in the Ozarks. Beautiful country! Yamaha???? No! It's a Honda Shadow Spirit 750, and she sounds great! Her name is Ruby and I have a ball on her. No, not a Harley, but I love Harley's. When I rode passenger, that's all I rode on. This little bike is perfect for me.
