Well if you have any evidence to provide that proves that the other parts of the Bible is false you are free to provide them. And the truth is the truth even if there is no evidence currently to back it up. But I did not say I was proving anything to you.....I said I have proven it for myself......that's all that matters to me.

And you can't prove to a blind man that the sky is blue either.

I'm honestly not interested in proving if the bible is right or wrong. As far as I'm concerned, people have the right to believe in the bible and if they believe that it is factual, then that is their right. I don't want to prove to believers that they are right or wrong. Believing can be rewarding to society, even if one believes in the wrong things.

By someone that walked and talked with him for most of his 3 1/2 year ministry. You don't want to believe in the Bible, your privilege. But if I'm wrong, I have lost nothing, if your wrong, you have lost everything.

The Bible is a fact. What you view it as is an opinion.

Interesting discussion gents. Though I must say, nobody is trying to change anyone's beliefs. Freedom to believe what you will, as long as it hurts nobody else, who cares.

That said, one must get a grasp on the origins of the bible before taking it word for word, which....it was never ment to be taken that way. The bible is just a collection of scrolls, transcripts, books if you will, from all different time spans and from different perspectives. The sole purpose of putting together the bible was to unite different factions under one label, and to help control the people. Some may not want to admit that, but read up on your history. Does that mean the bible itself is just a lie ? No, but not exactly the truth either. The only thing all the different scriptures in the bible does is give you an insight to the thoughts of man in a given time period.

I read a book not too long ago, forget the authors name. It's called " The History of God". Very interesting read, pick it up. Goes way back before the early egyptians to today and how God has materialized into how we view him as today.

Again, not trying to change anyone's beliefs, as I'm a firm believer in faith, regardless of which you subscribe to.

Well finally a post I can agree with Judge! Theology of any of the mainstream religions is far too complex to be learned in a few days or even months. Christianity is no different. However, the bible is Spielberg like story that describes the universe from the Alpha to Omega. It teaches us the history of the world. Its about how to become a born again christian and how to live well. However to save ones soul the bible doesn't even have to be read at all! You simply must take Jesus as your lord and savior and repent for your sins.

Now the bible is by all accounts one of the best documented/validated ancient books. It is no history book even though it does contain history, its not a science book even though it mentions science related material. Its not a book of philosophy although it contains profound philosophical material. The bible is a book of poem song and prophesy. It's a collection of texts from different authors. And the new testament is related to the Old. However everything pales into comparison for the most important reason the bible exists. It is literally a collection of texts to teach us about the Christian God and its a manual of how to save our soul our earth and the universe, because if we destroy the entire human race by ignoring the teachings of Jesus no flesh would survive WW3. So I ask, without sentience what is the universe? That and more is why the bible exists

Well I do not agree with your assessment which is a popular theory. I watched a history channel 'documentary' that agreed with your secularist claims. Of course its possible that there is some truth to it, no one but Constantine knows if he converted because he believed that God exists and Jesus was divinity on earth. Its true that emperor Constantine was the prime motivator in getting the bible canonized and he even sent his relations to all points to gather information such as sending momma Helena to what is now Israel.

Again I highly disagree the only reason the bible was created to unite the populous. Constantine might not have known if it would cause a rebellion! Remember Rome had been torturing Christians before Constantine converted himself and Rome. Rome was doing just fine without Christianity to bind them together, well save for some problems that could be attributed to the downfall of most governments corruption and such things. No this was a personal conversion and a powerful one. I think he was fully convinced Christianity was connected to divinity and Christianity trumped his dearly held beliefs of the pagan Gods*.

    * Constantine did have a tenuous connection to the Gods as well as Christianity.

I did read the book you mentioned. I would like to agree with you about something however Ms Karens (I forget her last name) only demonstrates that the author has a scholar's understanding of the historical (secular opined) foundations of monotheism. I have a MA in comparative theology but I might recommend the book as required reading because it would be educational for those who lack a formal education in theology. Otherwise, the book is a utilitarian, tortuous failure due to its exclusive secular nature and Islamic spin.

Unfortunately, the bulk of those who call themselves "jews" today are no more descended from Moses nor King David than my dog is. They're Khazarians who were originally from Eurasia but fled into Poland and Eastern Europe to escape annihilation by Gengis Khan.

People just CHOOSE to doubt the Bible. These kind of people use to say the Bible had no credibility because many of the places in the Bible hadn't existed. Then along came archaeology. The Hittites, for example, did exist after all.

Pls cut the crap abt Blackdeath plague/blood matzos + horns, however Is that your way of side-stepping the subject - to deny that SOME/PERHAPS A LARGE proportion of those who today call themselves - "Jews " (especially amongst Ashkenazim - like Rothschilds + other European Bankers /money lenders etc ) - are of Khazar + other non-semitic descent ?

Israel was first supported by the USSR, an anti-Christian evil regime that killed millions of Christians.

Truman recognized Israel without the approval of the Congress, and that was a violation to the American constitution.

Only evil communists and corrupt western politicians (who were bribed by Zionists) supported Israel, but not Christians.

Zionists had to bribe Christian leaders in the USA for about 50 years to get support form Christian communities.

But still not all Christian communities are bribed, and genuine Christians know that about 30% of expelled Palestinians were Christians, and many PLO-Leaders were Christians, too.

And whenever the Bible proves to be correct on something they say the Bible was wrong about, they find something else in the Bible to doubt.......they never seem to question what they believe no matter how many times they were proven wrong…..that is one of a couple of reasons why I don’t waste much time arguing with the skeptics.

Theories are not facts, my friend.

    http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/russia/khazar.htm
In 1976 Arthur Koestler revived the theory the bulk of the Ashkenazis were the descendants of a turkik tribe (the medieval Khazars).

TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTH PLENARY MEETING
Held at Flushing Meadow, New York, on Wednesday. 11 May 1949, at 3 p.m.

President: Mr. H. V. EVATT (Australia).

161* Application of Israel for admission to membership in the United Nation report of the Ad Hoc Political Committee (A/855)
Mr. Viteri LAFRONTE (Ecuador), Rapporteur of the Ad Hoc Political Committee, presented the report of that Committee and the accompanying draft resolution.

The recommendation of the Security Council (A/818) and of the Committee in favour of the admission of Israel was the outcome of a long process begun outside me United Nations and later continued within the Organization. It was logical that the United Nations, which had created the State of Israel, should also admit it to membership.

The vote was 33 to 11.

    Are you talking about this;

    http://www.trumanlibrary.org/whistlestop/study_collections/israel/large/index.php
At midnight on May 14, 1948, the Provisional Government of Israel proclaimed the new State of Israel. On that same date the United States, in the person of President Truman, recognized the provisional Jewish government as de facto authority of the new Jewish state (de jure recognition was extended on January 31). The U.S. delegates to the U.N. and top ranking State Department officials were angered that Truman released his recognition statement to the press without notifying them first.

    And did you over look this little jewl?;

    Recognition of Israel

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_S._Truman
President Truman in the Oval Office, receiving a Hanukkah Menorah from the Prime Minister of Israel, David Ben-Gurion (center). To the right is Abba Eban, Ambassador of Israel to the United States
Truman made the decision to recognize the establishment of the State of Israel over the objections of Secretary of State George Marshall, who feared it would hurt relations with the Arab states.[105] At a meeting in the White House on November 10, 1945, he told envoys to Saudi Arabia, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt: "I am sorry, gentlemen, but I have to answer to hundreds of thousands who are anxious for the success of Zionism: I do not have hundreds of thousands of Arabs among my constituents

Rejecting Arab, British, and U.S. State Department warnings that Jewish immigration to Palestine and a Jewish state would destabilize the Middle East, Truman and Congress continued to support the establishment of a homeland for the Jewish people.[107] American policy makers in 1947–48 agreed that the highest foreign policy objective was containment of Soviet expansion as the Cold War unfolded. From Washington's perspective, Palestine was secondary to the goal of protecting the "Northern Tier" of Greece, Turkey, and Iran from Communism, as promised by the Truman Doctrine. Truman set three goals for the region: a peaceful solution, unwillingness to send US troops, and the need to prevent Soviet penetration

    How interesting .
Those people who choose to do things are presumably to be contrasted with those who do not or never choose things .
Has anybody ever met one such single example of the latter sort of person ?
Apart from yourself , naturally .
I assume God took hold of you and forced you to make a spectacle of yourself .
As for the Hittites -- a Bible spelling error . Their days were numbered in Berlin , I gather .

Once you conclude that the universe couldn't possibly have created itself, God is the only answer.

If the universe had created itself, then "something from nothing" would be the number one law of physics. Which means I would have seen countless things create themselves right before my eyes. But I've never seen that.

Once you decide all of this must have taken a God to create, why not go with the original God? The one who nurtured Adam. And who guided Abraham. Who gave Moses the Ten Commandments. Then, finally, who sent Jesus to be His last sacrifice.

You make a broad assumption. If you want to conclude the universe was created by some nebulous wizard then, by all means, feel free. Furthermore your grasp of science typifies that of the god-people; tenuous, to put it politely.
The more sane of us prefer to look for the truth.
