Lol, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we reinvade. That would definitely give the MIC the blood it needs to thrive.

I guess we’ll see. The way we pulled out was a huge mistake. Reinvading would be even bigger. Unless you are profiting big time from it, I guess.

The damage is done by the disgraceful Biden withdrawal. No need to make further blunders. The best way to destroy the Taliban is to leave them to their own devices. The major danger to the US is uncontrolled immigration and the growing US debt. Not the Taliban and not white people as Joe Biden seems to think (if I can use "thinking" and Joe Biden in the same sentence).

The growing debt is intentional. It will never be paid off. That’s how the rich and powerful stay that way. The game has been rigged from the start. Or at least since we came off of the gold standard.

Afghanistan is not based off a military industrial complex like Germany and Japan were. We had industrial centers to bomb.
You can't bomb a country back to the
5th century when most of the country was there to begin with.

When Lindsey is POTUS, he can invade whoever he wants.... including Mrs. Graham....

Oh... that's right... Lil Lindsey is unmarried... Shocker......Maybe he should hang around with Matt Gaetz more....

Until he is POTUS, he's just blowing smoke... Afghanistan is a distant memory...

Here's approx when I would consider Lindsey Graham for POTUS

Yep, Biden took a HUGE political hit by leaving Afghanistan in his first year, just so he can reinvade next year to satisfy the defense contractors. Yes, this makes a lot of sense -- only in MAGA world.

In reality, we already know who will do the cheerleading if we go back into Afghanistan under a possible future Trump party POTUS: The same ones who were cheerleading GWB's invasion almost 20 years ago.

We could just have a travel ban list that says "X people aren't allowed to come due to their extremist views", but that's a "nativist" position, so :omg:

TLDR: Policy over feelings. The Middle eastern barbarians can join us when they decide not to be barbaric.

the war was unpopular of the majority they couldn't keep it going without losing more and more public support
but invading to save hostages or to avenge their deaths' is a whole different story the war becomes popular again
and the military's industrial complex is back in business

Biden doesn't give a dam he will only serve one term so he isn't worried about reelection

I don't know if we'll ever go back. That really depends on them. If we are not attacked by Al Qaeda (who are still very good friends with the Taliban), we will probably never go back. But if the taliban gives Al Qaeda leadership a home in Afghanistan and Al Qaeda attacks us again, it won't matter whose party the president is in.

The difference is that next time there will be no long term occupation, no nation building. Just killing our enemies.

our over-reaction to 9-11, guarantees someone tries to attack us again

they know we can't afford it, and we are only destroying ourselves with time

if they attack again, I hope we just do a quick air strike on their country and not another 20+ year war

The war against the Taliban was a war against the religion that those people have. Women getting a different roll in society and not following it's religious rules leads to harsh punishments etc. The US was there to change all that. You can not possible deny that when the US set up all kinds of schools and university programs for women.

And honestly. The way the Taliban is, is not really that different compared to how it is in Saudi Arabia. The west likes the Saudi's enough for their oil to simply not give a jacks ass about it. And I do not recall them having women as 2nd class citizens in an male driven undemocratic country as "terrorists".

Correct.. the obvious answer here is to set the gun wielding Texiban against the gun wielding Taliban.. Best 2 out of 3... loser has to put up with Jerry Jones...

If we would go back in to get hostages, it would be the screaming of the "bomb, bomb, bomb..." party that would make it happen. And more US service men would die. Of course, these same people only care about deaths if they can use them as political football against the president of the opposing party.

What does Graham use for a brain…?

    The Russians couldn’t beat them…

The British couldn’t beat them….3 times!

    The US couldn’t beat them…

No one has been able to beat them since Alexander the Great…

What do they call it again when you keep repeating the same action, but expect a different result…? There’s a word……..

Attacking Afghanistan was an overwhelming bipartisan decision or have you forgotten where Al Qaeda trained for 9/11?

Oh brother!!! Graham is blowing it out his azz for some obscure reason... the party that would be reckless enough to return ground troops could kiss their precious seats adios. AND DAMN IT, why NO talk, either here OR from our Congress Critters about the role PAKISTAN played in keeping the Taliban viable during our ENTIRE fiasco there??? AND WE KEEP SENDING THE BACK-STABBING BASTERDS "AID"???

It was, but it doesn’t mean it has to go that way. Was it bipartisan because bush beat the drums of war and everyone fell in line?

We won't reinvade since Afghanistan will become China's first overseas province. They will use it as a colony for the Uighurs and become the first country in history since Alexander to run it successfully

You must not have been around in the early 70's. We were not "winning" in Vietnam.
Afghanistan was always going to be a problem. We went there to root ouf Bin Laden and Al Quaida (sp?). We did both, mostly. We should have left a long time ago, and never should have invaded Iraq the second time. Have a clear agenda, accomplish the mission, get out.
