‘Worst Is Over,’ Cuomo Says as 6 States Ally to Reopen Economy: Live Updates

These Six States account for more than 50% of the confirmed cases in the US and around 60% of the US fatalities. The details here are still under-development, but the idea of regions working together to craft re-opening plans makes a great deal of sense because the larger the area of geographical coordination regarding the virus, the better you are able to react to localized issues without it immediately spreading across the artificial borders that does not limit this virus in any way.

The governors - all Democrats - deftly dodged multiple questions about whether their regional plan was a rebuke to the lack of leadership provided by the federal government by saying things like "[Governor Phillip Murphy of New Jersey] was focused on making decisions based on facts and science, and he reiterated that an economic recovery was inextricable from a public health recovery."

 

We technically do not have a federal system, and that's something before the crisis that I complained about. It's why I believe in Empire(as you've seen from my political posts.) But what the Trump experience shows, is that any central authority is quickly disregarded when it's not held to be trustworthy or respected.

Key word there is respect: Democrats have no respect for Trump. It is what it is, and I think the moment Dems have a come-to-jesus moment about that, the more they'll understand their own anger.

Given the lack of respect for Trump, and given the ability to blame him for...well just about everything, it's very easy for Donald Trump to wash his hands. I'd do the same if I were in his shoes. "The success or failure, rests on you now." The whole "You can't lead a camel to water and drink it" philosophy.

 

I see. It makes a whole lot of sense for the states with the largest virus infections to be the first to say "the hell with it" - we need to put people back to work!

Um . . . for the last two weeks the leftists posting to this forums system have been SHRIEKING that the economy needs to remain shut down and people kept in isolation until all M.D.s agree that there is no chance of anyone ever again getting the Chinese Virus. But now those exact same leftists are ecstatic that a bunch of Dem Party governors want to restart the economy just like . . . Trump . . . wants? Cue the playing of the Twilight Zone theme song.

 

I have to agree that the worst is over, but joining Trumps rose-colored view is not much of a rebuke.

 

You will notice that Trump got criticized because he picked an arbitrary date for opening up the country. And here we do not have such a date.

You will also notice that Trump got criticized because they tossed around the idea of making recommendations based on a region as small as county-level. Here, we have a coordinated effort by several states in the same region.

No one argued with the theory that we need to re-open the country eventually. Trump got criticized because he has proven, time and again, both in regards to this pandemic and in regards to governing in general that he lacks the intellect and the ability to credibly propose a plan for re-opening the country.

Democratic Socialists ruined Connecticut's economy long ago. Businesses are fleeing due to excessive taxation and regulation. Real Estate prices are at 30 year lows. There's nothing to revive.

Oh please; the Left played pure politics with Trump saying that he would LIKE to reopen the economy by the end of Easter and -- gasp! -- it's the end of Easter and now Dem Party governors are in agreement with him. Trump did not state that the nation would re-open then no matter what. Leftists simply pretended that he was saying that. Really, the political Left thought that nobody would notice?

They shut their states down without Federal guidance, they can reopen the same way.... works for me...

A lot of strong governors in the mid-Atlantic region... If they wanted to expand to Maryland (a reasonable Republican) and Virginia (another D), that would be cool as well, even if those 2 states weren't hit as hard...

 

So you say as increasingly Dem Party governors are in agreement with Trump regarding the need to restart the economy. The political Left is simply hoping that the nation doesn't notice that after all their partisan politically poisoned criticism of Trump that the MSM did on behalf of the DNC, these Dem Party governors now agree with him.
