Because right now, two of his most competent ex lawyers (who ran from Trump) named Ty Cobb and Jim Parlatore + his former Attorney General Barr believe Trump is toasted. Do you think your devotion to Trump will be enough to save him?
I have never had to hire a lawyer, so I did not know there was a list of those with security clearance at the level of access to military capabilities. (Nuclear secrets) I realize you don't like him and don't blame you. While this may scratch your trump hating itch, I feel this path will not take the country in a positive direction.
I am not a fan of the death penalty, so 545 in prison. The worst thing we can do to them is boot them out of office and force them to live under what they helped impose on the rest of us.
Jack Smith has plenty of back up plans. There are other federal investigations of Trump still ongoing that have nothing to do with him stealing classified documents.
I avoid hate, it reduces you to their level and is much more work than it’s worth. Not prosecuting him would “take the country” in a worse direction.
Serious question? With these charges, do the contents actually matter ? Isn’t classification all that matters for a trial ? How would the contents change anything ?
Thats a healthy way to look at it. We can't ignore our current level of division between Americans. If you believe this will help bring people together, I will just have to respectfully disagree. I see things getting much worse. Would the country be a better place if every president goes through the impeachment process several times while in office, and afterwards? Would we be better off if presidents face prison for things Im sure most, if not all, former presidents do? If the Obama mansion was raided and these type of docs were found, are we better off with him in prison until he dies? Lets not forget that underneath this vicious political battle, they are spending the money our unborn great, great, grandchildren have not earned yet. I don't see this as a path for a better country.
The 545 people that serve those that donate to their campaigns over those they were elected to serve. That would be a good start.

I have wondered the same thing, how do they deal with evidence that few have the clearance to even look at. My guess is that they hire someone, much like early on in this case, who is A) cleared to view top secret documents, and B) is trustworthy. Kind of odd to think about, some of the evidence can't even be viewed by the judge. I'm sure they have a method, though. Highlighted in red: I feel you, but disagree in a sense. I don't see these events as *good*, as I wish it wasn't necessary and does form a dark cloud over our nation. But, since Trump went there, like the fool that he is, I do see that these are necessary steps and in some ways it is good for the country over time. Maybe this will affect the behaviors of politicians in the future in a positive way. If you think about it, politicians are under much more scrutiny now than ever before. I remember an interview with a reporter from the JFK era that told how he saw JFK leaving a night club in Vegas with the rat pack, and the secret service guys told him not to report it, and he didn't. Presidents have always been somewhat insulated, for some good reasons, but now with all the ways to get information and the internet, the politicians are much more scrutinized. I see it as improving, although sometimes some of the ugliness gets publicized. Hopefully it leads to less ugliness out of fear of exposure. I think it already has had an effect.
Trump has years of national secrets in his little brain. This is not about national security any more than collusion, obstruction, and tax returns were about justice. Dems are interested in getting trump the same way reps wanted to lock up hillary, hunter, and of course, Biden for taking bribes. "Lock em up" lemmings continue to rebleat the phrase that was fed to them and Americans view their own countrymen as enemies. I don't see this as good for the country, but why should I expect anything better from either party.
Even the most complex can problem can be solved over time with effort. If collusion, doesn't work, try obstruction, tax returns, hush money, and classified docs. Throw enough against the wall and something will stick. I am positive dems will get him on something. If this fails, they already have plan Z ready to go. As long as voters are focused on what scratched their itch, few will notice that our power as individuals is diminishing with each passing day. If you should become politically inconvenient to someone holding this leash, you would be toast.
Trump is NOT being prosecuted for having/seeing the docs, he is being prosecuted for not retuning them when asked multiple times, and from the charging documents, he is being charged with showing these documents to people who were not cleared/allowed to see them. He would not have been in this position had he returned them when told to.
