No. What I know is that Iran is fully capable of sinking any US naval vessels that would try to prevent Iran seizing US vessels in retaliation for the US seizing any Iranian vessels. And what I know is that the US military knows that too. Something that you could find out if you visited the thread I referenced.

"Seize". You said "seize" not "sink".
Why do you believe the US cannot prevent Iran from seizing US ships?

For the same reason a British frigate that was not that far away when Iran seized the British tanker it seized last year, couldn't prevent it. Because if the British frigate had made any moves, or taken in action against what Iran was doing, it could find itself in the bottom of the sea. The same would happen to any US naval vessels that tried to prevent Iran from reciprocating any piracy by the US by seizing an American tanker or other vessel.

Ah. Iran can seize US ships because UK ships did not prevent Iran from seizing them. Sound reasoning.
How does Iran seize US ships with a platoon or more of weapons-free marines on board?

Commercial vessels don't normally have platoon or more marines on board. But even if they did, they would be told to lay down their arms or they would come under fire.

    So?
    Come under fire... from whom?

They would come under fire from a host of platforms (sea, air, ground) operated by Iran that are capable of hitting any vessels and sink them. Not merely commercial vessels, but even America's largest and best defended naval vessel, namely US aircraft carriers.

I would love to see them try. No anti-aircraft or anti-missile (projectile) system can stop the nuclear weapons the US has. On top of that, it would be a great time to let Israel off its leash.

So, the Iranians don't have a way to forcibly seize a US ship with a platoon or so of marines to defend her - just sink her if she doesn't surrender.
    Thanks.

This is what I posted elsewhere and I will post it here again:
    ----------------
While nothing shocking or surprising, this tidbit in Bolton's tell-tale of his time as Trump's National Security Advisor is worth mention as well:

    https://www.jta.org/quick-reads
Trump supported Israeli attack on Iran, John Bolton writes in tell-all memoir

That all these folks, whether the Saudis, the Israelis or Trump, have wanted someone else to attack Iran has always been crystal clear. What distinguishes Bolton (and a group of 'neocons' who do the bidding of the pro Israel lobby) is that they are pretty much the only voices that want their own country to be the one to do so.

Funny how you don't actually address what he said.

You have a strange sense of what is funny. I don't address nuclear weapons because I actually believe the fact that Iran has been (at least based on what we know) stupid enough not to develop them a major weakness in its doctrine of deterrence. I am left only to hope that those who are actually responsible for defending Iran against threats and attacks, have a good answer to that one as well. I don't.

The US has no reason to attack Iran right now. Aside from their proxy terrorist groups that kill our soldiers overseas.

Israel on the other hand...has a reason to attack Iran if provoked. I would love to see that too. Israel has been waiting to give Iran a taste of the "weapons they don't have".

But I -do- know what "maximum" means, and I -do- know the Iranians have no capacity to seize a defended US vessel - so there's that.

And what I know is this: the US has been busy blinking each time it has made a threat and Iran has called its hands on it. It doesn't matter if the threat has been made "officially" by the US president, has been called a 'warning' issued by the US national security advisor, has been a tweet or in the form of messages sent to Iran through intermediaries. Iran has ignored them and the US has ended up finding a way to say "all is well"!

    Speaking of bluffs...
Did you not know Iran has no capacity to seize a defended US ship, or were you aware of it but made the claim anyway?

Iran has the capacity to seize any US vessel operating in and around the Persian Gulf/Sea of Oman. If the US vessel resists, or if Iran is interfered with, Iran has the capacity to sink them. That is what I believe. You can believe whatever you wish but don't ascribe your beliefs to me.

Only if she not defended by a platoon or so of weapons-free marines.
If so, Iran can only sink her, should she not surrender.
    You know this, of course.

Ah. You hate the truth when it doesn't allow you to huff and puff.
But hey - you should take pride in the fact that Iran is supremely powerful against targets that cannot, or will not, fight back.

In the meantime, while this is certainly not causing the reactions Iran's fuel deliveries caused, it is part of the story of Iran and Venezuela working together to defeat the US campaign of "maximum pressure" (in quotes):
    https://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2020/06/iran-sends-food-ship-venezuela.html
Iranian food ship docks in Venezuela
It is the latest example of cooperation between the two countries in the face of US opposition.

You know that Israel is called to be the proxy terrorist of the USA ... with some reason?
And the term terrorist is lame and uninteresting in its own, since the term is much too often abused to demonize any sort of enemy insurgents, rebells and even states.

Look ... Israel sticks on no international law and agreement and breaks everything which they don't like. Israel is a nuclear power and has iths own reactor ... where never ever any inspection was done as it is demanded that Iran has to allow them. Why? Because Iran and USA are hostile and they have to submit will of Washington? Redicilous...

For me the complete US behavior towards Iran is criminal, because it is only a revenge and payback issue for the hostage taking and storm of US embassy in Theran in 1979 ... something that right winger war hawks will never forgive until Iran surrenders to them.
Al what then followed on both sides has the reason in this issue 40 years ago.

The fact that the US backed the bloody bastard of Shah before ... a pure dictator not better as Saddam or Assad ... does not matter ... as well doesn't it matter that the CIA miss-uded the embassy as HQ for a counter coup to reinstall the Shah ... a crime like it was a crime t storm the embassy and the hostage taking.
