What I find odd is if you asked most people what they would do if their child stayed home and did not work the answer is always the same, they would kick them out and DEMAND they get a job. They do this as parents because they do not want them growing up and expecting to live off of others. They know the sooner they learn about personal responsibility the better. They also realize that work builds character and self esteem...

Yet some of these same people see living off the Government as different?

Mostly because of their disproportionate reliance on morally corrosive welfare programs, however, you are certainly right that war on drugs enters into it, since "blacks" are also disproportionately negatively impacted by that as well. I think a lot of "conservatives" would earn more credibility if they could at least admit how damaging the war on drugs has been for the black community.

 

During "Jim Crow", young blacks were more likely to be in the work force than whites. Once we started increasing the minimum wage, it priced blacks right out of the market.

 

That might have been true in an alternate universe but it certainly wasn't true in this one.

When I lived in the black ghetto, most of the residents who owned their homes hated that kind of garbage. These young blacks are the result of being street raised instead of having an intact family with a mother and father which liberal welfare programs have created. Now we have gangs of blacks from generational welfare families in an largely anti-social path.

This needs to be turned around. Where is the President? He could do a lot from his bully pulpit with his excellent oratory skills. He could be a real source of change in the black community.

 

I'm sure that a case could be made that black youths had more jobs than white youths during slavery times. After all, they certainly did work for less. But once employers had to pay them they tossed them aside for an all-white workforce (as in the store example or a 99% one as in the case of Hoover Dam).

i would disagree with a concealed carry permit, that wouldn't solve this problem. welfare should be increased in these neighborhoods, so that the parents can take proper responsibility for their children and not have to work many jobs away from home.

that way the parents would keep their bad children's off the street, and have more time to train them to live as civilised citizens in society as the Europeans do.

As for ending the war on drugs, I don't think the potential benefits outweigh the likely blow back experienced collectively.

Real change, and improvement within impoverished demographics must happen organically, from the ground up, throwing money at the problem isn't going to change things. In other words, these communities first need to examine what's really keeping them down and holding them back... it's them. Not all of them mind you, which is proof in and of itself that individuals can consciously rise above the circumstances and situations which they so loath. For example, overwhelmingly, nobody is forcing impoverished young men to get involved with the drug game, which can be rewarding, but can also end your life, or set you so far back in life that it's near impossible to climb out of the hole you've dug for yourself. Likewise, and for the most part, nobody is forcing young women to have too many children at too young of an age, children they're not even prepared to raise as they can't even manage themselves. Nobody is forcing the impoverished to look around them and see nothing but oppression, to see nothing but victimization, to feel as if there is no hope.

In short, people need to start understanding that it all begins with them, with accountability, with positive thinking, with realizing that they're not actually just some cog in an oppressive machine. Of course it's not easy, especially if one is already in a bad situation, but it's the only way real change is going to occur.

It is a criticism of the progressive welfare state and what it has done to the black community and the urban areas of the US. I've talked about this at length in these threads.

Why do you think the national media avoids the topic? Attacks on white like this have become fairly common, since 2010. Where is the national debate? Why are progressives so desperate to shut down
