Again, the statement on his wounds say that the head injury healed enough by the time he got to the hospital they decided not to put in stitches. It wasn't that bad of a gash, but I don't get why people are expecting a deep cut from blunt trauma.

It just seems increasingly like that's not how this went down. Certainly not in the clear cut way you'd see in the past.

I contribute HUGE amounts of tax money for couch riders and i volunteer more hours a year than many people work. Btw in states that dont have a stand your ground law the burden is on the victim of any attack to run away. When was the last time you wereon the ground being beaten and had the chance to run away? Its a law built on realism, no wonder you dont like it...

That is completely wrong. Under common law self defense, an attacker SHALL stand down if another is retreating. Otherwise you lose the protection of Self-Defense.

 

And that is why there are medical reports.

 

Zimmerman had the legal right to follow Trayvon. He didn't relinquish any rights by doing this. If he himself confronted Trayvon that's another story. But just following somebody doesn't give them the right to attack you.

 

We know he confronted Martin. The Special Prosecutor's star witness is Trayvon's girlfriend.

 

I have had my home broken into by stealth while I was reading in a back bedroom.. so I know what its like to confront an intruder and drive him out.

And, I didn't chase him down the street and kill him.

You have the right to defend yourself, but you should always retreat if you have a way out.

His injuries recieved up to the point of the shooting couldn't have been that severe otherwise he wouldn't have been able to get his gun out and fire it.

It's very odd why people are acting like anybody is saying his head was split wide open.

His injuries were what they were, and it sounds like there are many witnesses for that and he did go to the hospital eventually. I guess one could argue if his nose was truely broken or simply bleeding, if that matters.

I'm sure if people look hard enough they'll find someone who did something racist at some point in their life, and something that could be called a screw up.

But at its core it seems like this isn't what it was made out to be. At the least Zimmerman was getting beathen when he drew, and he might have gotten sucker punched while wanting to move away and let the police deal with it.

 

How does that work if you are pinned down being beaten?

First off there is no "common" law as each state has their own framing of law other than federal crimes aka crimes that jeopardize the stability of the federal government or the population it governs. There is common law theory, maybe that is what you a referring to?

Secondly your phrase "an attacker SHALL stand down if another is retreating" is illogical when you have an agressor who is winning the fight. If trayvon was beating mr.zimerman (as an eyewitnes says) why would he stand down?
