I think everybody knows about western imperialism by now, especially American imperialism*. Africans are getting fed up and are taking to the streets by the thousands to protest. It kind of looks like the Russians may help them get free.

The Russians saved Vietnam from the US. They wouldn't have succeeded in ousting the Americans without the weapons the Russians gave them.

Well, Vietnam was under attack by the Communists, so when you support what the USSR was doing in Vietnam, you are supporting Communism.

I am anti-imperialism, of course, which is why I oppose Russian imperialism in Ukraine, Georgia, Belarus, Africa and anywhere else.

You know the Vietnamese were using Russian weapons, don't you?

 

You know that the Soviets were trying to communize Vietnam, don't you? You know that the USSR attempted this there and in other countries, such as Afghanistan, as a form of imperialism, don't you?

 

They're pretty angry at the whites that are exploiting their countries. Their wanting to kill those particular whites is understandable. I think most of them understand that all whites are not imperialists and wouldn't want to kill the white tourists.

When a country has a puppet government and the government suppresses education, culture is going to be low and more people are going to be superstitious. Whatever they establish if they aren't occupied by imperialists will be better than what happens when the country is occupied by imperialists.

The Vietnamese seem to be doing ok now. I talked to someone who'd recently taken a trip to Vietnam and said that things looked pretty cool. The only thing she didn't like was there being limited access to health care.

You seem to be basing all of your opinions on American mainstream info*. You should get informed.

I know American tourists go there and they don't get attacked in the streets. People in countries that once were and still are victims of American imperialism know that the American people have good intentions but base their opinions on upside-down information. When I lived in Mexico in the eighties, people tried to inform me. They weren't aggressive toward me.

There is no American imperialism, but there is Russian imperialism.

Africa had all sorts of "internal colonialism" Shaka's conquests =according to the late Great Leonard Thompson (Oxford History of South Africa) displaced almost a quarter of the sub-saharan population in the earlier part of the 1800s. Without the underdevelopment visited on Africa by European colonialism, Africa would still be suffering massive corruption, poverty etc-it just would be somewhat different
