Aggressive Avatars

    What possesses someone to CHOOSE an aggressive avatar?

    Is that how they wish to greet other prospective posters here - - with a large gun aimed at them when they see the person's post / avatar?

    Is it because these people are angry and unimaginative and probably very ugly people in their souls... that they resort to violent ugly metaphors as a way of greeting others here?

    I find it offensive. But then I have a soul in place.

    It's the cartoon (or coloring book pics) a lotta libs have that always cracks me up. How serious can you take somebody who flies under a flag of Bugs Bunny?

    Second on the list are political figures who have no power. Like Bush or Palin. Shows the bearer doesn't really have a clue who's responsible... they're just groping in the dark for a villian.

    People who choose guns seem rather obvious to me -- they're against gun control and making the point 'don't mess with me -- I'll bite back.'

    wow...so anyone that has an avatar you don't get or approve of, doesnt' have a soul?

    way to be judgmental. I always just figure it means something to them and go on..I am not up on everything, it could be a joke, a cartoon I haven't seen, a story I havent' heard.

    I try to judge based on what they write.

    We have quite a few offensive avatars floating around, not just the ones with guns pointing at someone.
    They either should all go, as soon as someone complains, or they should all stand.
    Suggestions to the mods, with a link to the offender, should be made in the appropriate forum.

    What do I think? Avatars are a way of expressing ideas without words. When someone choices a "gentle" avatar, that tells you something. When someone choices an aggressive avatar, it's their way without words of telling you what they're like.

    Me, I personally think that's what the trolls use to inflame you before you debate with them.

    I think you're right about that, Kranes. My own personal avatars change with my mood. Sometimes I'm in the mood to be a little more mellow... and my Texas clouds pic (taken by a co-worker, BTW) expresses my mood. Sometimes I'm ready to tangle and my Barack in Mickey Mouse ears sets the stage for me.

    Hate the clown-face photoshops... no matter who is the target. Seems like a cheap shot.

    The OP's avatar has always seemed rather tragic and depressing to me, but it seems to be something she relates to. Maybe she could tell us why she likes it?

    I don't find it offensive. I think some people have an "aggressive attitude" that they build their identity around, and it's very important to them that people see them as "EDGY" and "suchhh a bad ass!"
    It's mostly posturing, I wouldn't worry about it.

    Not sure really. I've voted for Labour and Tory in the past. I like Cameron, but not what he's doing with the cut-backs.
