Another mass shooting deserves a better answer.

1. In this case, you are ducking the point that the old canard of "eliminating gun free zones" doesn't cut it in this instance, as the law for the mall was against OPEN CARRY gun owners.
2. A modified AK-47 was used....many of those purchased before the 1994 were still in circulation. Since the sunset in 2004, it's state by state law, I believe. In other words, why the hell do we keep opening the gates to a degree on this?

 

You do not have sufficient authority to "enhance" any laws whatsoever. I gave you irrefutable sources in regards to a very specific law your recommendation would violate. Education is key.

 

I have stated here on PF several times that I may not do that. I may just get my family out of the area, reserving the use of my firearm to protect me and my loved ones exclusively. I have jumped through the hoops and paid the fees in order to do exactly that, if I wanted to be a hero, I'd join the police academy.

New machine guns haven't been allowed to be added to the registry since May 16 1986. This is a ubiquitously known fact to anyone who has even the barest of knowledge of federal gun laws.

And when all is said and done, you still do not have a declaration that tracing doesn't work at all....more so that enhancing such systems as I suggested would increase effectiveness. Remember, the OP states that the proposed solution is not perfect and would stop all crime, but improving the odds is a good alternative to just doing nothing more

Actually, the law attempted to ban various existing types of weapons. Unfortunately, guns sellers cheated the spirit of the law with their cosmetic alterations...and thus resulting in a weapon of choice for several mass shootings.

30.06 signs is for concealed carry. 30.07 is for open carry.

And to make you sure you are aware, if the walmart is not posted, meaning there is no 30.06 or 30.07 signs at the door, then carrying a firearm is within the law, concealed or not.
