It can also be said that Atheism is a "belief" that there is no god.
It's not a lack of belief at all.
All of this is simply a matter of opinion...

If some religion wants to espouse morals, that's fine. But, that's NOT what makes a religion a religion. Anybody can have moral standards. Any philosopher can write about morality and ethics. Religion is NOT REQUIRED.

Ok...in an attempt to get your thread somewhere in the fascimile of on topic again I made an atheist is a religion thread so those who are lacking belief or otherwise can direct their ducking and dodging there..... anyway this thread is a problem, its premise is entirely faulty in that you cant be a traitor to the guv with your religious views unless the guv is a theocracy.
Like stalin for instance when he adopted atheist marxism as the state religion and being a benevolent atheist commenced to murdering anyone who did not covert to his religion, like priests and what did he accomplish? Going down in history as a mass murderer.

 

You can bet the universe that countless numbers of your ancestors got raped and were rapists. We are lucky if were don't have to deal with such things in our lifetimes but some of our ancestors certainly did. It is what it is.
