I agree with you. In my opinion, we could be lowering our tax burden, by not resorting to the secular and temporal, coercive use of force of the State, to enforce Religion and Its Laws.

The Romans did not believe that was necessarily true; and Religion flourished.

Why would you object, to being able to be holy and moral enough, to pray for true and perform true love rituals at a temple dedicated to Venus (a goddess of Love); ostensibly, for the greater glory of our immortal souls,

and hope our soul mate comes looking for us when she is done and bored with all of the other ones, or maybe just wants a change of pace or some practice time.

I do not object to your right to worship Jehovah, Zeus or Mud. But my statement remains true, the only "better religion" is an absent one. Superstitious nonsense should have no place in modern society. The fact that it does, just means that we still have a lot of superstitious fools in society.
No sould, immortal or otherwise exist, lol. I have no idea what a "soul mate" is.
I do not object to any action you care to take(as long ss it does not interfere with me), I do however point out how foolish many beliefs and actions are.

How does your point of view account for what the Romans accomplished, even with Religion?

Or, consider, how many wars of religion they did not need to endure with their form of Religion?

If we cannot prove it one way or another with our current technology; why does it really matter if some people believe; and they are willing to practice their beliefs for goodness and not badness? Are we any worse off in that case?

Maybe without religion, the Roman Empire would still exist. I seriously doubt that the conflict, wars, and internal strife caused by the different sects within the Roman Empire had any meaningful impact on the greatness of the Empire. Without those conflicts, maybe there the Empire would not have split and maybe it would still be around, bigger and better than ever.

The way I see it, the Roman Empire accomplished a great deal, despite religion, not because of it.

I wonder why even he felt the need to "invent" a form of Religion, if it was not deemed necessary or useful.
