Are vaccines actually causing variants?

Vaccines help mask the symptoms, but don't prevent vaccinated people from spreading COVID to others.

It's a massive clusterfart of a mess, and somehow, Fauci still has a job after funding COVID's creation.

And yet lefties refuse to acknowledge that the vaccinated are also spreading the virus. Both the vaccinated and the unvaccinated spread the virus. The vaccines do fairly little to stop the spread. Therefore, it is unjust to blame the spread on the unvaccinated because the vaccinated are spreading it just as much. Requiring vaccine ID's to enter establishments is just plain wrong because the vaccinated spread Delta just as much as the unvaccinated do. Sports stadiums with 50,000 of fully vaccinated people in attendance while refusing entrance to the unvaccinated, will wind up being a very huge superspreader event. But, when that happens, the left will blame it all on the unvaccinated.

Those vaccine mandates will have to expire as the politicians in the CDC come to realize that annual boosters will be needed to contain the disease. This is more like the flu than polio.

It has a high rate of success at reducing symptoms. A lower rate of success at preventing the spread. Research the original polio vaccine invented by Jonas Salk. Same story.

yes, the vaccinated can catch the virus, same as the unvaccinated, the vaccine just teaches the body to fight it off

this is why it's important everyone get vaccinated

Why do leftists want to mandate masks if the vaccines work?

Not in the way you imply, but more like antibiotics for bacteria. When you have a vaccine that some people take and some don't and you fall short of herd immunity, you create the possibility for the virus to mutate against the vaccine because if it does, that variant will be much better at spreading among the vaccinated. In this process, it doesn't necessarily become more dangerous to unvaccinated persons except that with more hosts it is more likely to reach them. So in making the vaccine you try to target something that cannot easily mutate and still be viable as a virus.

I mean, it's quite a bit like war. If you hurt your enemy but don't destroy them, they will find countermeasures to defeat your strategy. To prevent this, you have to defeat them overwhelmingly all at once before they know what hit them (which would be achieving herd immunity before such a mutation occurs).

As for lambda. They key isn't really the antibodies except in the sense of getting it at all (antibodies serve as traps to prevent infection, e.g. by IgA). In terms of severity, effective T-cell immunity will be more important.

you know I think the author considers that to be an insult

But I for one like the title and might even add it to my sig

Errrr really? Someone claimed that? Two totally different types of vaccines sine one is an inactivated vaccine

Oh! mamma I am sick of these clickbait conspiracy sites that do not even start to make any sort of sense

cause not everyone has gotten the vaccine yet, and some of those that have got the vaccine has weakened immune systems

that said, I have never called for mask mandates or vaccine mandates

business, like some of the Trump hotels, may require masks, if that is what you mean

Given that the vaccinated can still contract, incubate, carry and spread the virus, I don't see how 'not enough people are vaccinated' has anything to do with it. Even 100% vaccination wouldn't stop it from continuing to live in and spread around some people for a time. 'Snuffing it out' isn't something the current vaccines are capable of doing.

Exactly. But, the left need to get off the unvaccinated's backs because everyone is spreading Delta, not just the unvaccinated. As such, there is no need for vaccine passports because Delta is being spread by both the unvaccinated and the vaccinated. The only real difference is that those who are vaccinated get much less sick than the unvaccinated with much less hospitalizations and deaths. The left need to quit with the misinformation that only the unvaccinated are spreading the virus.

These same stupid questions ("if vaccines work, then why....?") keep getting asked, ad nauseum, in these threads. Often by the same people. There should just be a FAQ we can all point to and move on.

Because the viral load in the vaccinated is much much lower ergo your chances of getting infected from a vaccinated person are also much much lower

Because the Unvaccinated due to the fact that they are not mounting the same immune response, have a higher viral load - which means every time they breathe they will spread a LOT more viral particles than someone who is vaccinated.

A lower viral load is generally good, but when the virus becomes more easily transmittable, a lower viral load doesn't matter a whole lot. So far, the virus is adapting faster than our ability to create vaccines against it.

There is a limit to transmissibility remembering too that if you are vaccinated and the exposed to only a minor viral load then your immune repossessed will make the spread even lower. It is all about that viral load - think of it as the difference between walking in a fog and walking in a light mist

An FAQ that assumes its conclusions? That's called begging the question.

What a load of crap. Now I know you keep up with the charts and the graphs. The vaccinated have the same load as the unvaccinated. Why lie?

It was rubbish and not worth refuting - where is your evidence? And please start with the statement “vaccines help mask the symptoms”

Here's how vaccines mitigate the risk of variants.
    • Vaccinated individuals are less likely to actually develop an infection in the first place, preventing any mutation from occurring in them at all.
    • Usually, vaccinated individuals are less likely to transmit the virus in general due to reduced viral load. This was the case for the original strain of Covid. Vaccinated individuals had effectively zero likelihood of passing it on if they happened to get infected. Obviously, that is not the case for Delta. There are indications that the transmissability is still lower than for unvaccinated individuals, but not much.
    • Vaccinated individuals are likely to recover much more quickly from an infection (in a couple of days rather than weeks), greatly reducing the opportunity for a mutation to occur and making it less likely for a mutant to survive long enough to be passed on.
