Word definitions and meanings change all the time. Almost every word changes meaning as time moves on. They change with society.
There was a song from the Gay 90s. 1890s, I assume. Nothing at all to do with the meaning of gay today.

Hmm, I am left handed and became an Engineer. Supposedly left handed people are right brained folks. Known for math or artistic skills.
I was horrible at drawing things. But was great in math and was very good at playing different musical instruments.

I should expect as much from a kid (whites, too, btw) who attended a substandard elementary school?

Too bad the other poster claiming to be left handed wished he played the welfare system so he could make it in the world.

Woke's attack on children is the most terrible thing about it.

Any teacher worth their salt gets to know, understand and work with the individual young person regardless of gender or skin colour.
Lengths of time spent with others will take you past their surface characteristics to their individuality, especially their individual cognitive and creative strengths.
I do not believe any teacher approaches a child and thinks ‘because you’re from Pakistan my expectations regarding your ability and readiness are thus’, a teacher will more likely think the child is strong in some areas and possibly less strong at the present time in other areas.

I think the MAGA folks too often approach a problem with their conclusion firmly in mind. We see that around here every day.

So, when a poor kid came into my computer class and didn't have access to a computer at home, I should have expected as much from him or her as I did with a kid who had his own equipment? No need to make extra time available after class so the poor kid can get extra computer time and extra help.

I guess I was racist because I expected less from poor kids who were often minorities and made myself and my computer equipment available before and after school. Why before school? Because lots of poor kids had to take care of little brothers and sisters after school, or had to work at a job to support the family. Before school was for some the only time they could get extra time unless I expected them to come it during the noon break, the only time they had to see their friends.

The extreme rightwingers around here who have zero empathy for poor kids don't want to put additional resources into schools in poor communities.

Uh huh. Kids with gender issues–they've always been around but you wouldn't have noticed–are fodder for you.

Good that you're not a teacher, IMO.

I had to unignore all to see who you were talking to because damn lol — I guessed who it was

And I am with you on that one

I don’t ignore many people but highly recommend it for that one. I could have more thought provoking discussions with my dying Christmas tree

Aw, c'mon Dairy, don't ruin it! Jump on the bandwagon with me and let's both get 'reparations' -- but first we must put enough gullible, liberal halfwits on some kind of big guilt-trip! Never forget -- no matter how well or poorly one does in life, he can always fatten his bank account by getting a Democrat-led government to give him 'stuff'!

BTW, do you by any chance play the oboe? I have no musical ability, but I LOVE the oboe, English horn, and French horn especially. Bach organ fugues played on any organ made by Arp Schnitger are also beyond wonderful!

Oh... OK, then, the propensity among teachers to "too often expect less from black kids" you described has nothing to do with them being of the Black race...? It all has to do with "substandard" schools, which somehow remain "substandard" even though taxpayers in the U. S. see the lion's share of their property taxes spent on public schools...?

Well, I'll rephrase my inquiry. Now you're saying that race actually has nothing to do with the issue? If not, then why is it that so often the complaint from the Liberal-Left is that it's mostly schools in Black neighborhoods that are underfunded and "substandard"...? To cut to the chase -- is the fault in the 'brick-and-mortar', or, is it in the 'flesh-and-blood' of both the teachers themselves and the student-body? If the problem is funding, then how much MORE of a taxpayer's property taxes should be devoted to public schools?

During the lockdowns in most places the parents were home all day, and their children were being schooled at home, on the internet. Thus, parents at home with children could and did observe what and how their children were being schooled. They became aware of CRT and other noxious theories. They became aware of the fact that they were being kept in the dark about what had happened in schools, perhaps most notably the gender reassignment efforts with their stupid pronouns.

Many Americans are simply not sophisticated enough in their perceptive abilities to realize their government has been deceiving them.

I and others have been aware of that for decades. The assassination of the Kennedys and MLK by government agents is child's play compared to what Twitter is now revealing.

Because there's a white conspiracy to deny education to blacks so that they will be frustrated and burn down our cities.

Right. Elon M. apparently lacks some social skills. It really doesn't matter. He seems happy, and he makes okay money. Not a lot, but still....

No, I read the educationist literature. I did give a fact: black kids do worse than White kids in the same schools.

    "The Woke Movement"? *LOL*

Who cares? Obviously Hunter Biden's laptop is the greatest issue facing the country. Well, that and the "oranges" of the Russia thing. Has Durham uncovered any oranges yet?
