My point is that Beslan was a hostage situation but 9 11 was a basic terrorist attack intended to kill. Both evil in there own way. I understand why the Chechens did what they did but taking children hostage and setting up the condition to get children killed is evil no matter what nationality , religion, or race the children would be.

I did not realize that you are from Russia you come accross as a rational reasonable intelligent human being. Look at it this way in that the reason that there was such a high percentage of Muslims in the Russian Empire as you noted prior to 1917 and I will say in the Soviet Union was the one true fact that Russia invaded and occupied their lands and then incorporated them into the Russian Empire and later the USSR. I will disagree with you about the 45% but that is not fundamentally important.
Going back to the 1960's and into the 1970's when Americans thought that the USSR was 100 % Russian I stayed in tune with the Ukrainian emerge press and media and had read analysis and projections of Soviet population trends. Right out of Soviet official statistics it was reported that the population of ethnic Russians was only 54% of the USSR total. The non Slavic population was growing at a much faster rate than the Slavic population. Most of the non Slavic population was Muslim based except for Estonians, Armenians, Georgians and what few Volga Germans were allowed to live.

I recall writing a term paper for a college political science course where I stated that there will come a time in the USSR that the non Slavic population will exceed the Slavs and the USSR will be in termoil. I do not take credit for that prediction it was what Ukrainian and other discident writers said. My father predicted that the USSR would collapse by year 2000 primarily because of that. My political science professor laughed at my paper though it was many years ago I think he gave me C+ because my ideas were so "rediculous".

So what I am telling us that Russia crated it's own problem by making the Muslim populations part of Russia by force.

 

You need to separate the physical attributes of Russia from the actions of Russia. There are many beautiful things in Russia but Russia's behavior is not beautiful.
