That’s not true. Two cities defunded their police departments because they were corrupt. That’s it, that was the total affect of defund the police. And those two were in progress BEFORE defund the police was a thing.

In “Heller” the Supreme’s found that individuals have the right to gun ownership which they defined guns as guns in current use and individual ownership was NOT dependent on being part of a militia. IOW, you can’t ban currently popular guns, in whole or in part.

Banning a particular firearm or all firearms would not save lives and, more likely, would cost more American lives than any ban’s potential to save lives.

I have an idea.... We need to make shooting people for no good reason illegal and starting forcing that law before we worry about creating more laws that are not going to disarm criminals.

Might be more support for some of those things if there wasn't the (totally justified, imo) perception that they'll just be used to affect and/or enforce a ban.

 

People are getting tired of what’s going on currently, youth polling is particularly critical.

So we the nation can either work on common sense solutions or they will eventually be dictated by the friends and families of victims.

 

'What's going on' is we're being bombarded with the statistics of shootings while the statistic of crime prevented by hesitant criminals worried about to getting shot is being completely ignored. A scientific approach would have interest in determining how often that happens. But since no one is trying to find out, all we know is its some.

 

And I fully support people having a weapon to defend their home since since the US has such a massive crime problem.

More people are worried about their child being killed at school or being shot up at a mall (things that rarely happen in other first world nations)
