We see this all the time. The lying fake news pushes a disinformation campaign for a particular position, and then when like checking the temperature on a turkey with a probe, they do a poll to see how effective their propaganda is, and it's wholly ineffective.

This isn't the only place. Check out Biden's war in Ukraine, the lying fake news has been entirely in the "yah War!" camp, but well less than 30% agree with how Ukraine Joe is handling this.

Here's another idiot: Rich Eisen Blasts Constitutional Carry by Citing Shooting in State Without Constitutional Carry.

Noted Bozo, 'Rich Eisen pushed gun control during his program on Thursday and blasted constitutional carry by citing a shooting that occurred in a state that does not have constitutional carry.'

'Eisen referenced the February 13, 2023, Michigan State University shooting, in which three people were killed. He then referenced former Alabama player Darius Miles, who is charged with capital murder in connection with the shooting death of a 23-year-old woman.'

'“There’s permitless carry in so many states now. Florida, you know what happened yesterday: there was a shooting in Orlando, somebody goes to cover it, and that person gets shot and killed, along with a nine-year-old.”'

'Two things: 1. Florida does not have permitless carry. So you have to have a permit to carry concealed in the Sunshine State.
    2. The individual who allegedly killed a woman, then killed an Orlando reporter covering the homicide, was a “known gang member” with “a lengthy criminal history, including aggravated battery, assault and grand theft. Such individuals often ignore gun laws.'

The DNC are propagandists and their base eat it up! The great thing about being a propagandist party is you never have to be honest, accurate or realistic :)

And that has been a handicap that well disciplined political parties can never seem to overcome.

    You're right.

Anyone alive and active in the 1960s remembers the demonstrations and how that generation was going to change the world but somehow, the world didn't notice.

Even though I don't have children, my nephews are all strong supporters of the 2nd Amendment as are their contemporaries.(1)

Apparently all the anti 2A MSM bias has not had the desired effect of turning younger people against firearms.

    Thanks,

    https://www.npr.org/2018/02/24/5880...liberal-on-gun-control-than-elders-polls-show

EXCERPT "But past polling suggests that people younger than 30 in the U.S. are no more liberal on gun control than their parents or grandparents — despite diverging from their elders on the legalization of marijuana, same-sex marriage and other social issues.

"Young people statistically aren't that much different than anybody else," Newport says. "CONTINUED

Since "Liberal" shares a root with "Liberty" I think "more Liberal" = "more 2A".

I recently read an article about how polling on gun control reverses depending on the question:

If you ask, do you support universal background check, the majority will say yes.
If you then ask, so, if a female was being stalked by a violent ex-boyfriend, and her dad loaned her a hand gun to protect herself, would you support her dad being charged with a felony? The majority promptly reverses.

Or, if boy scout troop parent loaned a the Scout Master his shotgun to go skeet shooting, would you support charging him with a felony, the great majority opposes this as well.

Interesting observation that causes me to think of what I would do if I wanted to sell a firearm. If I didn't know the person very well or knew them to be generally careless, then, I wouldn't sell.

When it comes to checking backgrounds, I wonder, for example, what a widow should do with her dead husband's gun collection? Is her only choice to take WW 2 era, semi automatic pistols and rifles to one of those moronic "Gun Buy Back" scams where all firearms are destroyed no matter how valuable they may be?

To what degree would she be responsible for subsequent crimes committed with that gun if she simply insisted on a positive I.D. ?

    What are your thoughts?

    Thanks,

I think that laws should be simple, so that those that wish to order their lives in a lawful fashion, know how to do so, and as your post illustrates, this is very complicated. I don't think I know the answer to any of your questions.

I guess that I'll soon find out because I don't want to leave my wife to have to deal with my pitiful collection so I plan on either giving away or selling some of my WW 2 era pieces.

I think that step one should be for me to call the regional DEA folks and ask them what they recommend.

I'll let you know what I find out.

FL house passes permitless carry bill

'Legislation legalizing the permitless carry of a concealed weapon or firearm, along with additional school safety measures, was passed by the Florida House.'

    APPROVED BY MORE THAN 2/1

'The bill, which passed 76-32, would eliminate the current permitting requirement for Floridians who wish to carry a concealed weapon and allow any citizen, otherwise eligible to carry, to do so without said permit.'

NO PERMIT IS REQUIRED TO EXERCISE ANY OTHER FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT

'The proposed legislation would not eliminate the ability of citizens to acquire concealed weapon permits in the state. Floridians may still obtain a concealed weapon and firearm license in order to qualify for the protection of interstate concealed carry reciprocity agreements.'

Good. Able to protect herself from evil doers.
