Since when does the Executive branch write legislation?

Formally, legislation starts with congress. But informally, the president can send "bills" to them and, if his party controls congress, is likely to get be taken seriously but may be highly amended before passed. Traditionally, the budget bill starts this way.

I'm not sure what the conflict is. Anybody can send a bill to congress. But the president doing so is far more likely to be taken seriously than, e.g., me. And from a president it is far more likely to be successful if his party controls congress.

Repeating your claim won't win the day. The only thing Joe can do is ask someone in Congress to introduce a bill. He can't directly "send" one himself. Look, it's not like Biden hasn't gaffed before. But maybe he thinks he's a Senator.

I think you've got nothing to back up your claim. Enjoy the rest of your day.

And I think you have no claim, but yeah I don't see this convo becoming interesting or productive.

Biden has just clarified the point. The right to kill your baby is just as important as combatting inflation. Georgia gubernatorial candidate, Stacy Abrams, doubled down on that. She says that right to an abortion is needed because raising children is expensive.

Presidents send requests to Congress all the time. Is this a serious question?

By law it is supposed to but then the President's budget suggestions, which is all they are, are routinely DOA and ignored.

Biden is also pledging a federal "abortion fund" to lay for transportation, time off from work and childcare.

Has he forgotten the Hyde amendment?

"President Biden revealed in a recent interview that he supports the establishment of a federal fund to cover costs associated with abortion, including time off work, travel, and childcare."

...The proposal to create a federal abortion fund seems to run afoul of the Hyde amendment, which prohibits federal funds from being spent on abortion. Biden openly supported the amendment throughout his decades-long career in the Senate, but has since abandoned it, choosing to omit the measure from his 2022 budget proposal...

Actually he is showing it is MORE important as he is actually trying to do something about abortion but nothing about inflation.

Lol.The insurance companies wrote that 2,000 page ACA monstrosity. Biden didn’t literally sit at his typewriter and draft a bill.

    “Right to kill your baby”

    Hyperbole much?

This is a song that few are currently listening to as more and more examples of WHY abortion should be left in the hands of a woman and her medical provider are being shown

And the Republicans peed into that mix so much that it almost fell over into knots. The one thing it did prove was that once a UHC is introduced to a country it is political suicide

Yes, it’s exactly what your side wants. For the record, I support early term abortion, especially for rape and incest. That puts me to the left of many in my party. But if the alternative is to support late term abortion or the killing of viable babies, I have to join the pro-life movement because I don’t have a choice.

And are you aware that “late term abortions” (post viability) are almost invariably done for foetal abnormality incompatible with life?

This has been one of the grossest misrepresentations of recent years - that late term abortions are done on a whim - there is no actual proof that this is happening at all

Yep, it's cheaper to run the family if you kill the kids.

I see. it was just a simple matter of Biden exaggerating his authority to give the appearance that he can get things done. Typical Biden bragging.
