    The crime of stupidity.

It,s like saying that at least the Jews the Germans threw into the ovens did not freeze to death. It was just a dumb and stupid thing for O,Relley to say.

One would think that freedom loving conservatives would have led with "slavery was wrong no matter what slaves were given", but instead they break their necks to support what he said.

Why was it necessary to point out that the slaves were well fed and sheltered unless he was trying to engage in apologetics for slavery?

IE "Yeah, they were slaves but slavery wasn't that bad"

One would think that lefties would think that conservatives realize that slavery is wrong without saying it.

    Your statements suggest otherwise.

As a freedom loving conservative, you should have no problem explicitly condemning it.

You don't mind explicitly condemning what you consider enormous federal spending.

    Neither do I.

I even consider indentured servitude to be slavery.

Many whites who can trace their ancestry back to Colonial America were probably slaves, indentured servants.

The first slave owner in Colonial America who owned slaves who weren't under contract but were personal property was Anthony Johnson, a black man.

Indentured servants who escaped and ran away from their masters came under the same laws that escaped black slaves came under.

Kit Carson the famous fur trapper, trail blazer, Indian fighter and lieutenant of U.S. Marines during the Mexican-American War was an escaped indentured servant and wanted posters were circulated throughout the west for his capture and being returned to his master.
Where did the wanted fugitive Kit Carson go ? He headed towards the Rocky Mountains and became a fur trapper.

I pity you and the poor education you have received. Lets review a few things, ok?

    SLAVERY
The Republican Party was founded primary to oppose slavery, and it was a Republican President who abolished slavery. When the 13th Amendment was first voted on all 6 "nay" votes in the Senate came from Democrats, and all 65 "nay" votes from the House came from Democrats. Through two years of heavy conflict Democrats opposed the Amendment at every turn until finally, after losing seats and having to be paid/bribed to do the right thing, enough votes were gathered for passage. But even then states under Democrat control refused to ratify the Amendment.

    KKK
Outraged by the federal governments decree that Blacks are not property and fearing the change of law upon them Democrats created sub-political organizations in order to fight back. The most famous of which is the KKK. Yes, yes my friends the KKK was founded by Democrats in order to intimidate and/or violently suppress anyone who voted against the Democrat party or in favor of rights for Blacks. Continuing even into the modern age the Democrat Klansmen held high government office with the likes of: Robert Byrd, Hugo Black, Theodore G. Bilbo, Bibb Graves, Clifford Walker, George Gordon, Benjamin Stapleton, and David Duke (yes thats right David Duke was originally and for the majority of his years a Democrat).

    CIVIL RIGHTS
Even though every Democrat politician today loves to claim themselves to be a "civil rights activist" even draping their arm over racist radicals who claim themselves to be the same, the Democrat Party strong opposed civil rights. When the 1964 bill went up for vote 21 of the 27 "nay" votes in the Senate were from Democrats where 96 of the 130 "nay" votes in the House were from Democrats. It was after this that Democrat party leadership finally realized they couldn't suppress Black Americans any further and would need to develop a new strategy (introducing the permanent underclass) in order to control them. Hence LBJ's famous quote “I’ll Have Those N****** Voting Democratic for the Next 200 Years”.

So Questerr when you, or any other poorly educated liberal tries to slander Republicans as being racist just keep in mind that you only think that because the people who robbed you of an actual education have programmed you to think that.

You don't have to follow their lies, you're not their slave.

They were always singing and dancing and having a gay old time.
If blacks were really smart, they would be protesting for the return of slavery.

You seriously can't compare indentured servitude amung whites and slavery amung blacks.

It would be like comparing house arrest and incarceration in the Supermax.

The Republicans of the 19th century were liberals. The Democrats, especially Southern Democrats, were conservatives.

    My point stands.

Wow. O'Reilly made a comment in support of what Michelle Obama said in her speech, a comment that included a sidebar about the treatment of the slaves in question. He can't make such comments without being tarred as being in favor of slavery? Really? That's got to be one of the silliest notions I've run into. Have we really gone so far off the rails?

Since the Republicans of that era were progressives and champion Lincoln as their own, why are modern Republicans conservative?

Do you honestly think that it matters if they were well fed and housed at that point in time for that particular task?

He was trying to paint a pic that "slavery wasn't as bad as once believed".

When are you going to explicitly condemn slavery?

And just for the record, slaves were given just enough to stay alive. Do you really think they were eating 5 star steak dinners?

Lol...So many syllables and so little intellectual honesty.
You forgot to mention how all those racist dixiecrats switched to the repub party after LBJ got Civil Rights passed and Nixon promised to keep the (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s down with his law and order rhetoric and southern strategy.
Reagan followed suit and added some aw shucks race baiting to his campaign rhetoric and hooked the rubes.
The reality today is that the vast majority of racists and kkk thugs are voting republican.

The Republican party makes the same arguments as the Slave Power Conspiracy made in the 1830s-1860s. The Republican Party defends slavery, white-washes its horrors, and boos any accurate portrayal of slavery.

The Republicans devalue labor, like slaveholders did.

The Republicans love free trade, like slaveholders did.

The Republicans love war, like the slaveholders did.

Please tell me what in common with the Party of Lincoln do Republicans today have if any?

It's hard being well-off living in gated, opulent, predominantly white neighborhoods. That kind of guilt needs to be assuaged somehow. Being "down with the struggle" shoulder to shoulder with blacks seems to do the trick.

And yet you cant disprove a single word, aww. :frown:

Yes we've all heard the "Dixiecrats" meme excuse. It holds no water with me considering that Democrats carried out their plans to keep Blacks in the permanent underclass exactly as they promised to do. If the permanent underclass wasn't such a critical part of Democrat/Liberal agenda then you might of had a case.

That's strange because it appears that the racist thugs such as BLM and NBPP will be voting Democrat.

“Michelle Obama referenced slaves building the White House in referring to the evolution of America in a positive way. It was a positive comment,” O’Reilly said. “Slaves did participate in the construction of the White House. Records show about 400 payments made to slave masters between 1795 and 1801. In addition, free blacks, whites, and immigrants also worked on the massive building. There were no illegal immigrants at that time. If you could make it here, you could stay here.”

    He didn’t stop there.

“Slaves that worked there were well-fed and had decent lodgings provided by the government,” O’Reilly said, noting that the White House stopped hiring slave labor in 1802 but “did not forbid subcontractors” from using them.

“So Michelle Obama is essentially correct in citing slaves as builders of the White House,” O’Reilly concluded. “But there were others working as well.”

O’Reilly’s defense of the living conditions for White House slaves didn’t sit well with historians like Liam Hogan, who tore the Fox News host apart on Twitter.

    Just weird.....

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/oreilly-white-house-slaves-well-000000723.html

    Others were equally appalled.

O’Reilly wasn’t the only conservative commentator to stir controversy in response to Michelle Obama’s speech.

Earlier Tuesday, Rush Limbaugh said the Obamas “can’t stop talking about slavery.”

“I mean, that’s their starting point, and I think that’s a no-win situation for us because we’ve made great strides,” Limbaugh said on his syndicated radio show. “This country has made phenomenal strides since then. Undeniable.”

“They love to wax eloquent about the early days and how they were three-fifths of a person, even though they never have been three-fifths of a person,” Limbaugh added. “He doesn’t even have any slave blood. She does, but he doesn’t, but they will admit they’re never going to let it go.”

I expect you to tell us all how Republican policies today are in common with Republican policies 170 years ago.

    They aren't, flat out aren't. Lincoln was pro-Union, pro-wage hikes, anti-capitalist, anti-free trade, anti-elitist.

Lincoln was anti-racist, believed in equal government services to all including education and he funded the sciences.

There's a lot about Lincoln you don't know.

Lincoln made it illegal for Corporations to own land as if they were people...only people could own land and if you wanted to buy farms you had to live on them and work them yourself.

That was a law Lincoln imposed upon the US and it held true for nearly 80 years.
