Birth Right and Race Reparations for Slavery

I think we should offer all blacks a million dollars in exchange for a one way ticket to Africa and to renounce their American citizenship. Those who choose it we will not miss and the smart ones will choose to stay here. Crime would drop immediately and Africa would see some needed wealth come to their country. That way we don’t have to have these same arguments when they just blow their money and complain about being poor again

While I think reparations is a stupid concept since the whole world was into slavery at some point, if they are gonna force it, they could do it with COMMON SENSE. They won't, but they could!
Example, why not pool the funds for it and disperse it amongst the descendants of slaves that are on welfare? I mean it sounds to me that even Kanye West could end up with reparations money at this point.

I would personally define chattel slavery as being born into slavery where you will be a slave for life and so will your children and their children and their children's children. Basically hereditary slavery.

What is even worse than that though is a race based form of it.

At some point? There are ppl alive today whose grandparents were slaves because of their skin colour.

Unless I was grown in a lab, pretty sure I do. And if those people that were treated bad (100s of years ago) are brought back to life I will gladly send them a check.

That's a good point if so. You could adjust the OP argument accordingly as you do above and do reparations from the state.

But was the national government not participating as well? Could you argue they were complicit by not outlawing it at the national level and by keeping the slave stats as part of the union for so long?

 

I did answer them regarding the OP argument.

For that it would include anyone with an enslaved ancestor under government rule allowing or enabling their slavery. Yes, that would include people who are white or any other race.

 

I'm sure you could make such an argument. You could also argue that the National government's responsibility is only to slaves who entered the country from the time of ratification of the constitution until 1808, when the slave trade was outlawed by Congress. There are lots of ways to slice and dice this.

 

OK if you find any still alive get the people who stole their freedom from them to compensate them.

Prove that wealth from 150 years ago would have "descended" to them? I have zilch from my ancestors including my parents let alone my ancestors from over 150 years ago. Family wealth seldom survives more than a couple of generations.

Where are you going to get this wealth from? From persons who had nothing to do with that which you believe needs compensation be given to those who are generations removed from it?

 

The problem is almost every black in America has some white blood in them and to some degree the reverse is true.

So how do you plan to deal with that little problem?

 

Women could not vote the first 100 years in some states could not own property, should they receive some reparations?

 

This is more about slavery and freedom.

This is true. The facts are that most people of various classes have been discriminated against at various times for various reasons. Are you inferior because you were born to be shorter rather than taller? N0- but there will be discrimination that makes it seem so. Plain rather than attractive? Too smart or too dull? Wrong religion? Those and many more.

Th worst thing a person can do is feel sorry for themselves and blame others for their emotions. That is abdicating your power over your own life, insuring your own failure, insuring you will never be happy, and insuring nothing can ever change it- because only you can, but you won't.

The only people more responsible for that on-going misery than those who impose it on themselves are the people who promote that and encourage them to do it.
