Liberals are offended by everything. It's best not to try to go out of your way to appease them.

Especially when offending them is so much more fun. Assaulting one of them with commons sense has a two fold merit. It is fun and you may even break thru the density of their programming and show them the light of truth.

That doesn't mean the idiot is entitled to $75,000 just because they heard an offensive word.

Lawsuits like this should be illegal. They should aware him $1 for emotional distress, then let him pay the lawyer's fees himself.

I didn't say I think the lawsuit should stand...

Just explained why the word "wigger" is offensive...

I think some of you may have lost the plot here.

At wigger day, you are not imitating black people, you are imitating white people trying to "be" a black culture stereotype. Once black people stop saying the n word, I will stop using the wigger word. I can use that word... because I am white.

What you are mocking, is white people, not black people.

REAL-Americans are those who contribute to society. I am sorry if you're not familiar with that type of American.

Black Student Sues Minnesota High School for Celebrating 'Wigger Day'???

This has to be about the lamest excuse for racism I have heard in years. The hypocrisy involved is astonishing. It does, however, have one redeeming fact. It proves Darwin's Law of Evolution. Man and the apes have been demonstrated to share a common (in this case, VERY common) ancestor. The apes, however, have sued for defamation of character.

Add-on. "Do you think any REAL-Americans are offended by the word "wigger"?" Yes. Me. Anyone who objects to my being offended is cordially invited to go do something immoral, acrobatic, and probably uncomfortable.

By the way - if I am not "white," I AM sort of high-blood-pressure pink.

"Wigger" is a pejorative portmanteau for a white person who appropriates fashions and mannerisms typically associated with blacks and those who dress up like gangsta rappers are paying tribute to black culture (i.e. Eminem) and the term itself is not discrimination against blacks. But "Wigger Day" may be inappropriate in the educational environment because it promotes gangsta culture and a city in Texas bans the Wigger fashion in public.

Again... it mocks white gansta culture... not encourages it.

I never did see the merit in emulating a retarded culture of crime, drugs, sexual promiscuity, and often, jail time.

While I don't agree with a lawsuit over it.......I cannot believe this happened in liberal Minnesota. OF course, it's wrong. What's wrong with it, you ask? The very word, "wigger." Making fun of a group based on race; wrong. It would be just as wrong if they had a "Cracker Day." You know....back in the 40's and 50's they put on performances in high school auditoriums called, "Minstrel Shows" where townspeople put on "blackface" and entertained. It was belittling and wrong then....and it's sure as heck wrong today.

The "gangsta culture" dress, etc.....should be banned for either race in schools. I don't even like to see it anywhere....but this IS a free country and people have the right to act stupid if they want to.

She was a few months from graduation when it happened the first time and I'm sure she didn't want to endanger that. There nothing to indicate she simply wants to line her pockets - she just wants it to stop since it appears to be a yearly event.

If there are only 27 AA students in a student body of 600, and that student body along with their administration sees nothing wrong with them dressing and acting in the worst AA stereotypes - the AA students would be too intimidated to speak up or do anything about it as long as they're students there. They'd have reason to fear for their safety in that atmosphere IMO.

It would be very interesting to know if the entire student body participates in this horrible event - clearly approved and sanctioned by their administration - or if there are some non-racist white students who also think it's wrong to single out and intimidate a very small number of their classmates.

I hope the ACLU sends a delegation of attorneys to observe the next "fun time" Wigger Day and exposes this school system for the racist pigs that they are. And I hope that as a result of this law suit, the other AA students will also speak out and the administration that approves and allows this to go on will all be given the boot and replaced with humans.

Except for the lawsuit, I think you are absolutely right.

I think she should have a lawsuit. Because you can't just complain about this behavior, you have to punish it. The very fact that you can allow such a thing to happen over a long period of time says something about the place and the people running it. A High School should never endorse this kind of behavior. Ever.

I don't know why someone would want to dress up like someone's prison (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) anyways. I mean that's where the saggy pants craze came from and the true meaning of sagging your pants.

And people wonder why Iaugh at them for doing it, there is nothing manly or cool about it. Unless of course if your explanation of cool is pleasing your cell mate, and his buddies, sexually.

What exactly did the school do wrong here? They let a group of people express their 'culture'. Not seeing what the crime is here. None were harmed, and the only person that was butt hurt brought it up months after the event took place. I'd dismiss her on grounds of stupidity alone.

Then sick the legion of whiffle bat carrying girl scouts on her if she pressed the matter further.

    I'll ask again...

You don't think that anyone who would be offended by this is a "REAL American" or, that they contribute to society?

Blacks are so generally disgusting that it's fun to emulate their more garish behaviors.

It's a dumb thing to allow that because it sets yourself up for nonsense lawsuits. Think about it, you could have free cake day and someone will have a problem with it ...
