I really don't care, neither of them are President of the United States or makes any decisions for the United States, so it's all inconsequential.

I just care that you tried to cover up for two liars that sat in front of Congress and lied to the American people. You just hate Trump. Funny how you try and defend Clapper and Brennen. Two of the worst Obama scumbags to ever serve the gov't.

Anyway, quit derailing the thread. This about Mattis. He is a great American and has served the public well.

Well, in all fairness, Stephen Miller, while a ridiculous figure with ridiculous beliefs, actually seems to have a decent political mind, for someone of 33 years old... Just because I disagree with almost everything he says doesn't mean it's not somewhat logical (if you are an avowed racist).

The Trump kiddies (and in-laws)?? Not so much....

There.... WHEW!! I never need to laud Stephen Miller again.... got that off my suck-it list...

And he has clearly set out his very patriotic values in his resignation letter - and made it clear that he is resigning because Trump does not share those patriotic values.

Don't count on that. We still have two years to 2020 and the worms are starting to turn, even Mitch McConnell is showing a bit of a newly developed spine in his response to the departure of General Mattis.

I think that depends on how much of the report is made public. If the whole thing is, I agree with you.... Americans can read for themselves (probably over days) what Mueller says happened.

If the report is squelched, House Impeachment hearings might be the best way to make it public. I don't think having the house vote to impeach and the Senate not convict is a bad thing at all.

No he didn't... you just don't seem capable of understanding intelligent shade being thrown... No Pocahontas or Crooked Hillary so it's above your pay grade... I'll condense it to 2 small paragraphs...

    SNIP
My views on treating allies with respect and also being clear-eyed about both malign actors and strategic competitors are strongly held and informed by over four decades of immersion in these issues. We must do everything possible to advance an international order that is most conducive to our security, prosperity and values, and we are strengthened in this effort by the solidarity of our alliances.

Because you have the right to a Secretary of Defense whose views are better aligned with yours on these and other subjects, I believe it is right for me to step down from my position.

I suspect Gen. Mattis does not think that the "stable genius" who "trusts his gut over expert opinion" actually knows more than him about the military role in common defense. I also suspect Gen. Mattis was not in support of the decision and methodology to withdraw abruptly from Syria, and given the options to get on board and be responsible for it or leave, we have the letter above as the mutual decision. It seems possible he was not getting the support he hoped for "treating allies with respect and also being clear-eyed about both malign actors and strategic competitors..." I thought his letter made pretty good sense, without actually mentioning Syria. Or maybe he just finally arrived at "I'm too old for this (fecal material)".

Donald has always considered himself smarter than the generals.

If this was a one-man show...I'd say "so be it".

But it is not a one-man deal. We all have skin in the game.

There is no Trump in Team.

Of course he did. That is not what Mattis said or even insinuated at all. He just made it up. He is twisting words and coming to his own ill gotten conclusion. Shameful.

He just made that nonsense up. Period.

And a Defence Secretary deserves to have a President who consults with him before POTUS makes massive announcements on Foreign Policy, yes?

Good for Mattis for abandoning a sinking ship. I enjoy the class in his resignation letter as he gives Trump the middle finger as he walks out the door. Besides, Mattis knows that his former boss is a whiny bitch and a cry baby. If he actually wrote how he really feels about Trump, our ***** and chief would go on twitter and cry and moan saying that Mattis along with SNL is a big meanie that hurts his feelings.
