Mattis thinks Trump is a raging lunatic, he was only staying because he thought Trump might listen to his advice eventually. Joke's on him, not happening.

In the meantime, people that are salivating for the 'big beautiful border wall' can always donate to the border wall 'GoFundMe'.

    https://abc7chicago.com/politics/gofundme-for-trumps-border-wall-has-raised-more-than-$6m/4935637/
"The campaign entitled "We The People Will Fund The Wall" launched Sunday, and has raised over $6 million in small donations as of Wednesday night."

"A fundraising team led by Purple Heart recipient and triple amputee veteran Brian Kolfage says if the 63 million people who supported President Trump's election pledge $80 a piece, the wall will become a reality."

I did the math and If the fund is targeting the $5 billion dollars that Trump needs to 'start' the wall and if everyone kept donating at the same pace as what has already been collected (6 million), there would be enough to start building the wall in 15 years.

Well the guy you just thanked for his service in the post before this one must be a leftist because he just quit because he thinks your view is wrong.

And where are you going to find a Secretary of State who will align with a President that has no strategy and no vision.

The hyperbole of the amount of comments you've made using the word hyperbole is hyperbolic on steroids.

Once that He-Man (Ann Coulter) questioned his Manhood--Trump freaked out.

“They’re about to have a country where no Republican will ever be elected president again,” she added. “Trump will just have been a joke presidency who scammed the American people, amused the populists for a while, but he’ll have no legacy whatsoever."
    This is SCARY.

It might be time to invoke the 25th Amendment.

Trump is 72 and was never a soldier. Does that mean he'll never go away?

    No kidding.

Trump blew a gasket because Ann Coulter's RW Macho offended his Fragile Masculinity.

    No wonder Mattis resigned.

Who would want to serve under a Patooty like Trump?

Yet he's 4 yrs. younger than the president. Is the presidents warranty passed?
Yes it does have the market power. How is the Taliban different than ISIS as far as a glib "let them have it" answer.

My conclusion is that when we consider all the times Trump has ignored or rejected the normal "traditional" ways of getting things done with our governmental structure as it was designed and intended to function, and instead tried to do things alone, unilaterally, single-handedly like a dictator, it becomes obvious that he has zero interest, zero respect, and zero commitment to our form of government. And so such a person has no business sitting in the White House. Any legitimate American Congress would name him as being unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office and thereby remove him from said office.

    Exactly.

The New House should impeach as soon as they take power, if the Cabinet doesn't vote to invoke the 25th Amendment.

    Who knows?

This sort of Unstable CHAOS that might be enough to convince 20 GOP Senators to vote for removal.

I think it is more than possible. They went with Trumpon the hope he would bring his base and he did but the base is eroding and those opposing are becomig more sure and motivated every day

At this point you could nail a bag of horse **** to a tree with the label “ not Trump” and a large number would vote for it

Actually, the whole point is ISIS has been demolished, and as you point out that the remainders is the Assad/Putin coalition(along with Iranians..) We Nationalists will not intervene in Syria, we don't hold strategic value of Syria. Our only value was ISIS. If Syria's a hellhole where human rights are violated, it wouldn't be the first country.

And if the Kurds want an independent nation, they should go through the UN and claim non-Turkish held territory.

It prevents an escalation of tensions with said country, and the 4,000-ish troops we had there wouldn't have been enough to carry on a military effort. Our only goal was to destroy ISIS and prevent the launch of chemical warheads. Mission Accomplished. What becomes of Syria is not of our interest.

I support the Free Palestinian movement as well.(My more radical ambitions for Israel is to set up a demilitarization zone like that of the NK situation. I do not share the political view of the Zionists, and I see Israel as one of the more chaotic elements in the middle east. Thankfully, of recent its calamity seems to be mostly within its borders, and not within the ME area as a whole. Let us all pray it stays that way.)

To me, Israel is not and never has been an ally of the US.

You put the words "strategy" and "vision" in the same sentence as "Trump".

    What a joke.

The WH staff turnover is almost 70% since 2016.

And all of those who left 18 months ago were people appointed by Trump....

The guy doesn't even have the intelligence to hire people who share his "strategy" and "vision".....

Well it's about the Kurds, I get it, the US is abandoning them....should they have given them hope in the first place...

the other issue is the safety and security of American troops currently in Syria, if they drag their feet we could see clashes between them and Syrian/Iranian/Russian troops moving east...how long will they wait before they move north east..and who knows what Turkey's planning

While Mattis did state his values, it is true that he did not himself characterize them as "patriotic" if that is what you are saying is false or made up. Otherwise, Mattis did make it very clear in his written letter that you posted that the reason for his resignation ( and "for me to step down from my position" is pretty much the definition of the word "resignation".) was that he felt that the President did not share these same values.

Whether or not Mattis thought it was time to withdraw from Syria, my guess is they probably also had a significant difference of opinion over the abrupt time frame and apparent lack of communication and planning, with which Mattis has significant experience and valuable knowledge. It seems probable it was pretty much a case of "my way or the highway", so here we are.
