I posted my opinion below on another thread which should be merged: My take on this tragedy is, they can fly drones 10,000 miles away, they can control and pilot a rover on Mars 3 million miles away, why is it this technology is not in the cockpit of every plane on the planet? Also, they have voice recordings on planes, why not video? Wake up world, we have inmates running the asylum
good point. And I also feel the black box technology is outdated. You're telling me we can't have audio/visual in the cockpit for a live feed ? Of course we can. There are millions of cameras around the world throwing live feeds.
Many being quick putting blame on islamic terrorists. However, the name of the co-pilot was not released, but starts with Andreas L., 28 year old, from Montabaur, Germany. Doesn't sound too much muslim to me. Maybe he was a muslim sympathizer, although that is probably doubtful. Like in any case, it would be prudent to wait for the details to come out before starting conspiracy theories and putting blame on the wrong people. This thread, however, highlights the desire of a certain fraction of posters to blame muslims for anything they can.
Right... so the pilot could not have killed the copilot and locked himself out. The copilot locked the door behind him. After that, purely speculative at this point.
I agree but it can only come from either government or insurance companies changing the nature of flight requirements. That is unless I am missing something as this is not my industry and all I can go by is what little I've read about how these companies operate.
I think these new security doors they used due to threat of terrorism needs to be reviewed in light of what happened. Apparently there are override codes to open the reinforced door from the outside but the person inside the cockpit can prevent them from working. As is shown in these case one unstable pilot was able to hijack/crash the plane when the first pilot needed to use the bathroom. While it's not confirmed the audio tapes shows he was breathing normally the entire time the other pilot tried to force his way through the door. Nothing suggest he was unconscious inside and he never responded to their attempts to communicate/get inside. It's just as much a threat as someone bringing a weapon on board. It might even be more dangerous now since security is so high when it comes to passengers.
Thanks for the name. http://www.smh.com.au/world/germanw...to-want-to-destroy-plane-20150326-1m8tb1.html Nightmare.
While suicides such as suicides for insurance money are common among any cultures, the suicides which take many lives along with person killing himself are not. Let's wait and see if this is an exception rather than the rule.
http://pilots-airmen.findthedata.com/l/986395/Andreas-Guenter-Lubitz He was green. And foreign based.
Baseless? So if a burning cross ends up on your yard will you baselessly speculate that it may have been the KKK?
Then don't call the cops... just start firing. Just pointing out that such speculation is not baseless.
Glide ratio is a function of control configuration, air speed and weight. Let's say 14 to 1 for the A320 at best glide speed for distance not time aloft. So from 38,000 theoretically the aircraft could glide a distance of roughly 100 nautical miles. @ 220 kts that's about 25 minutes to sea level. Cheers Labour
Possible, but unlikely. The voice recorder gave no indication of this happening. Had someone else 'slipped in', he would have had to get past the crew, and the passengers, and silently disabled the copilot without a sound.
