One assumes many Californians are already doing the following:
Put a bucket in the shower and save that water for flushing toilets. Save bathwater for the same purpose.
If it does rain, put out buckets to catch more toilet-flush water.
When using a washing machine, let the drain hose go into several buckets and gather plenty of toilet flush water.
With a little creativity, you should never have to use purified drinking water to flush toilets, plus you will help to keep chlorine out of the environment.
Anytime you wash your hands ( which you should do often), you can catch some or all of it for toilet flushing.

Guys from Cali, have you got at least any pure water for your bongs?

Communist, socialists, progressives, whatever you want to call yourselves take notice. This is the result of your policies.

This isn't the result of a lack of water, it's the result of a lack of water infrastructure. California has enough water available, it just leaves too much of it to the fish and wastes what's left.

This country needs a national water grid.

"We're in a new era; the idea of your nice little green grass getting water every day, that's going to be a thing of the past," Brown said.

How much do you want to bet the lawn at the governor's mansion will get DAILY waterings?

Water conservancy should be a no brainer all the time anyway. Why wait until you are almost out? There are already technologies and systems available to conserve.

Why does this have to be political?

California out grew its water supply. So then they can skrink to meet the water supply available.

I used to live in the Nevada desert with no well so I'm in the habit of conserving water that being said I live in the northern part of California and our officials say our water is fine.

To be honest I don't see many city people willing to save water for the toilet. Most probably don't turn off the water when they brush their teeth.

They should simply allow the free market to determine the price of water in California rather than restrict it. When the prices jumps to hundreds or thousands of times the current price, people will naturally cut back.

Don't say that! I'm hoping my state will eventually become a water-exporter to the parched entertainment capital of the world. If I play my cards right, the water I pipe out to California will afford me the ability to kick back and watch those Californians entertain me on my 3D HDTV while I otherwise do nothing productive.

some of us may start resorting to smoke and mirrors to evaporate water.

    - - - Updated - - -

Our republic needs politicians who understand the concept of promoting the general welfare so they won't have to resort to Madison's simplification.

Because California's politicians spend their money on stupid stuff rather than water storage and desalination plants.

We need to advance fusion (an energy with a future) to help with potable water and combat global sea level rising at the same time.

    - - - Updated - - -

City cisterns could be of some use.

I believe we should regulate well, Commerce in marijuana to pay for advancing fusion (an energy with a future) and infrastructure at the same time. what State could be worse off with better aqueducts and better roads.

    Anti-socialist, yup.

It's only paranoia if the fear is irrational.
