    They're trying again.

California Secession Movement Wants National Divorce to Avoid 'Civil War'

The leader of a California secession movement known as "Yes California" told Newsweek in an exclusive interview on Saturday that a national divorce is needed to avoid another "civil war."

As politics have become increasingly polarizing in recent years, there have been growing calls from residents in coastal-like states such as California, Texas, and New Hampshire to secede from the rest of the United States.

"Yes California" is currently campaigning on a ballot measure called CalExit 3.1, which would break California into two and establish a country separate from the U.S. in the San Francisco Bay area and along the central California coast, according to the "Yes California" website. The independent land would be called Pacifica. So far, 92,000 people have signed up to join the campaign through the movement's website. However, it's unclear how many of these people are California residents.

Seems unlikely this year. However if through some freak miracle, Trump wins, you could see this being a popular ballot initiative for next year.

    Good luck..:roflol:
The Supreme Court ruled in Texas v. White in 1869 that no state can unilaterally leave the Union. Secession would require a US Constitutional amendment approved by two-thirds majorities in the US House of Representatives and Senate, then ratification by 38 state legislatures. Analysts consider California's secession improbable

I think it's amazing that the USA has stayed together as long as it has because we're so big as a nation. Not counting the civil war, of course. It's also amazing that the American separatists have been conducting themselves peacefully for all of that time. If you look around the world, there are many nations where armed and violent groups have taken power over most places in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. So, what does the USA have going for it besides the prestige and the promise of a future Social Security check?

I'll bet a lot of people across the country would like to have a say in that ballot measure.

No interest in leaving America, but I’d love to break CA into 3 states. Two blue and one red, just to throw a bone to the right….its not like they get a say statewide now anyway,

Not really. All it requires is a different interpretation from a new SCOTUS.

Can I claim to be an illegal named Juan and vote in California? I'm sure one of those screwed up towns lets illegals vote right?

We've been a solidly UNITED country until recently. Actually before trump and his constant attacks on our government, it's institutions and even our BELOVED Constitution there wasn't a large scale secession movement at all. trump has destroyed everything he touches most of his miserable life. These United States need to hang together just one more year and we WILL survive this crisis called Donald Judas tRump, the 2025 project of the Heritage foundation and all the other miserable attackers.

Libs want to break away from the country while a lib is president and you found a way to blame Trump. Bravo!

I think it appears to be something both libs and cons would agree on.

Any idea how many military bases and contractors are in the areas being discussed?

If you look into at all the guy behind this movement, Louis Marinell, is a conservative with ties to Russia, that's why 1.0 failed and this will too.

    Cheese and Rice!

He WAS a conservative and then became a civil rights activist advocating for same sex marriages. That hardly sound conservative and certainly doesn't sound Russian, so my thoughts on this is my vodka has more ties to Russia than this guy.

The Moron on the right wants to succeed from Union in TX, and moron from the left wants to succeed from the Union in CA.

I guess we have idiots on both side of the political ideology.

News for both side … USA will not surrender even one inch of US soil.

Translation: he's a crackpot, his movement isn't going anywhere.

"Ties to Russian government influence operations
In August 2022, the US Department of Justice indicted Russian national Aleksandr Ionov for collaborating with the Russian government in attempting to influence in U.S. elections.[32] The Sacramento Bee identified Marinelli and Yes California as beneficiaries of Ionov's support. Marinelli acknowledged that he knew Ionov, but denied that he knowingly aided the Russian government.[9]"

Maybe a little closer to Russia than you think.

It sounds very libertarian, who share most views with conservatives except on social issues.

While there's no chance CA is going to go totally rogue, if they did they would lose the military bases and manufacturers.

Dude - we literally for years have had a prolific poster on this board whose Icon is a California map who has been calling for the more conservative Northern California counties to break away and form a new state or merge with Idaho. This is nothing new nor is it just about the "libs".

Is this an actual THREAT of a Civil WAr by Yes California , if it can't leave the Divided states of A.??

Do they actually believe that it would work?? Why is violence the default threat in such situations??

Would you be in favor of the most liberal parts of CA breaking away?
