No it's not. Come to our cities and towns. You don't find needles on the ground everywhere or human feces from the tens of thousands of homeless. We don't give up our public spaces for homeless encampments. We don't create and allow open air drug markets to thrive in our once beautiful public spaces. We prosecute criminals and we support our police who bust their ass instead of demonizing them.

    It makes a big difference.

California is certainly a place of extremes. From the Mega Rich to the homeless.

Secessionists remind of the people that all the companies have to put all the inane warnings on their products for. "Careful, this poisonous rat poison is not for human consumption". "Inhaling smoke repeatedly into your lungs just might hurt you". Just not a lot going on upstairs for these folks.

I've heard that a few hundred unarmed people tried to take over the whole country on 1/6/21 and almost succeeded had it not been for one courageous cop that put the rebellion down by shooting an unarmed middle aged mom.

Well you obviously heard wrong since the incident is on tape and going through legal procedure right now.

To paraphrase, you said that I was wrong because I was right. They wouldn't be going through the legal process if they didn't think that a few hundred unarmed citizens were trying to overthrow the government. But nice try.

They were trying to stop the certification all over false claims. What happened on 1/6 is not a secret, let alone your downplaying the incident. You are not right and are still making excuses for what happened. Those nearly 1k people that went crying into jail over these continued false claims is just as bad. Obviously the MAGA world has forsaken them.

I thought secession CAUSED civil wars. Would not the United States be obligated to send in the military to totally destroy the state as happened the last time a state seceded?

Should not the people advocating this and signing it be arrested on charges of insurrection and rebellion?

This aint the 1860s. I don't think Americans would be in for that sort of thing today.

The charge of insurrection apparently depends on who is being charged.

What in the Constitution has changed? Again if the federal government failed to use all necessary force to prevent the secessions then why would the former Confederate States have grounds to sue for restitution? What about people who could prove their families had their property destroyed by federal troops preventing their state from seceding?

If you wanna try for that, go ahead. Thats not an argument against seceding now.

lol…and yet you people like to flog the much older second amendment like it was holy writ. Maga likes to wipe their ass on the constitution whenever it suits them.
And why the hell are you people still polishing turds for a seditious traitor, rapist and thief?
The best thing that you could do for your country is to hold trump to account for his actions.

Wait... is the contitution important or not? The second amendment is ...the second amendment of the constitution after all.

If you're suggesting Trump isn't a constitutionalist, I'd ask you to cite which part of it he's violating. And before you try the whole 'insurrection' BS, it was a riot, and Trump told them not to.

Encouraging this kind of thing is sedition. It is a direct connection to the enemies of America.

600,000 dead and the total destruction of a dozen states and the properties of those citizens speaks pretty loudly otherwise. Why does the Civil War which was for fought FOR THAT REASON suddenly not matter anymore?

Its a question of whether Americans today would stand for trying to militarily destroy a seceded state or not. I don't think they would anymore.

I also don't think secession is necessary or even a good idea at this point. Maybe in the future. I just don't think we should, nor would, make war with a state that democratically voted to leave the union. Not in this day in age.

Sedition is rightfully dealt with in proportion to its severity.

"The movement was founded in 2015 by conservative activist Louis Marinelli, who is the current president of the movement, according to the "Yes California" website, and Marcus Ruiz Evans, who was a conservative talk radio host at the time."

The secession garbage pretty much all comes from conservatives.

I'm fine with california leaving as long as its under an agreement that favors the rest of the country that doesn't leave, and the portions of california that aren't blue can stay.

Although it does seem civil war is inevitable.

Im confident that most on the left dont have the fortitude to get in the trenches and utilize violence in anything but a riot where they are treated with kid gloves by police.

An actual war? I think it would be quick as soon as they felt what it was like to actually have to fight a force as formidable if not more so than they are, and the risk of dying a meaningless death was high. They simply wouldnt.

If you had read the article you would know:

"The movement was founded in 2015 by conservative activist Louis Marinelli, who is the current president of the movement, according to the "Yes California" website, and Marcus Ruiz Evans, who was a conservative talk radio host at the time. Marinelli and Evans no longer have ties."
