Can atheism coexist with religion?

You would be incorrect to classify atheism as a religion. Agnostics and atheists, just don’t know. That’s not a religion. Religions are composed of peoples who think they know about their gods and the afterlife, with no proof . Atheism and agnostics don’t pretend to know without proof. You want to convert peoples to a religion ? Provide legitimate evidence and don’t ask peoples to “have faith.” You could easily get an atheist to believe in religion with evidence.
If you rationalize your religion by a book that disputes scientific facts, don’t expect agreement from an atheist .
Some religious types go so far as to call science a religion. Then, they would be a hypocritical. They’re hypocrites because they ALL run to science for their cell phones and cancer cures. That’s like leaving their own religion for another based upon a whim or convenience.

 

To be fair, there ARE (were) a few that decide prayer and their God will cure their cancer. Thus far to no avail.

Well, he used to be, I haven't seen him in a while. He had some great bits, I think that's when Roseanne Rosannadanna was on.

 

Right. And the best ideas man has ever had came from science. Religion has value in controlling man’s behavior and giving him a sense of community. But as yet, it has given no proof in the existence of god nor what happens when we die. In reality, scientific discovery has the capability of exposing us to many more possibilities then religion ever could.

 

It wouldn’t be the first time.

And in my opinion, science will discover that technology is gifted to us from the Source. Quantum physics is still an infant, but given time science will come to acknowledge It.

My point was that if you're going to say all religions are the same I'll throw atheism into the pot as well.

I’m happy to hear it’s an opinion. 20k children under five die every day from preventable diseases. Instead of gifting us Quantum physics alone, a just god could surely find a way of gifting access to food and medicine instead of allowing 20 k innocent kids to suffer and die every day.

 

I never said all religions are the same. But many, like Christianity go through a transition period where their teachings become more benign and less destructive . It often coincides with a Govt. that separates religion from governance. Religions learn to adapt or fade out, just like any political party. Religions are more about politics then salvation.

 

Science also have value in controlling man's behavior. Religion is a path to spiritual enlightenment. It's a tool. Like tools developed through science, it can be misused.

Yes, there is no proof of existence beyond the physical. Atheists believe "when you're dead, you're dead" and that everybody are just ambulatory meat computers responding to biochemical programming and of no more value than the sum of their parts.

Science is a method of study....guess who helped develop that method? In ancient times, what organizations where available which would dedicate themselves to healing and studying the heavens?

 

It's been 2000+ years and Christianity is still around. Yes, governments do make us illegal from time to time but if you want to call Christianity "destructive" you won't find an example in your own lifetime ( and please, don't blame the KKK on us because I will turn around and blame them on the Democrat party. )

Spiritual enlightenment ? Religion was devised to control the conduct of the masses. It’s all made up with the intention of filling in the gaps of ignorance.
Show evidence, and even an atheist would consider a particular religion.
If there is no proof beyound the physical world, then why make up everything. Just be truthful and say...” we don’t know.” At least with science, we can come up with a few answers you can base your future decisions upon. Early sailors used to attribute the tides to a God. If science didn’t explain how it works and how to deal with it, we’d still be offering gifts and sacrifices waiting for the tide to recede. Only by evidence and facts can you have a chance of making correct decisions .

Your very existence and survival depends more on man made science then prayers. When people believe in the tooth fairy, they fall for other scams like the GOP trickle down economics, the father of 9 of the last 10 recessions, and dynamic scoring and not the scientifically derived Keynesian economics. The GOP is fraught with lies and deception, and at the top, is their faith in religion over fact based decisions.

Everyone has access to food and water, but God doesn't wait tables. All you have to do is to get up and go get yourself some. I guess He should give them all new Mercedes Benzes as well. If you believe any of what you posted then you believe in God and are angry with Him, from the sound of it. For God to be guilty because kids are hungry, then he must be real to you since you're the one accusing him of neglect. And BTW, all of your posts are your opinions.

 

Then come up with how life was created, fact based, for if there is no proof why make up everything. No one past the age of 5 believes in the tooth fairy. Science often explains how it works, and then years later they admit they were wrong and explain it again, and again, and again. There is no proof of how the galaxies were created, just speculation. No body of study has been so wrong so often as science. This is the infallible science that you have so much faith in. There is a ton of evidence that supports the existence of the spirit realm. Science has zero evidence and absolute zero proof of how life began and all you can do is tell us how what you think didn't happen. Anyone us can tell you how things didn't happen all day long and we're not even scientists and neither are you.
