His arrogation of education, medicine, and science, substituting his ideological zealotry for expertise, is repugnant to many freedom-loving Americans, but it is his assaults upon private enterprise that may quash his ambitions.

Book banning and other repressive policies aside, his alienating businesses and inviting tourism boycotts is not in the interests of Floridians as it panders to an extremist national constituency.

His petty attack upon the largest private employer in the state for openly opposing discrimination was especially ill-considered, but the damage he is inflicting upon Florida's industries is far wider.

In Florida, videos of empty workplaces began to go viral after Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed a bill that ratchets up sanctions for employing undocumented workers.

The Florida law goes into effect July 1, stacked with provisions that will make daily life harder for undocumented immigrants and their communities.

“Florida is a dangerous, hostile environment for law-abiding Americans and immigrants. It’s not always been that way,” said Domingo García, national president of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC).

“And we need to make sure that everybody understands that you can be arrested for literally taking somebody to the hospital, for literally taking somebody to Disney World.”

    Disney cancels planned Florida campus
"Given the considerable changes that have occurred since the announcement of this project, including new leadership and changing business conditions, we have decided not to move forward with construction of the campus," Disney said in a statement...

"We have plans to invest $17 billion and create 13,000 jobs over the next ten years," the memo said. "I hope we're able to do so."

It takes a lot of crust to post this when your party has the nasty, authoritarian Biden puppet in the White House. The “glass houses” cliche applies here

Your inability to deal with the rabid authoritarianism of DeSantis is noted.

No he can't and Little Musso is in for a rude aWAKEning.

Just dropping this here for what it's worth.

'Exclusive: Texts tie DeSantis closely to Trump insider Lev Parnas in 2018 race'
    Source: Reuters

BOCA RATON, Florida, May 22 (Reuters) - Ukrainian-American businessman Lev Parnas and his business partner were arrested in 2019, accused by the U.S. government of funneling a Russian oligarch’s money into American political campaigns. One recipient of Parnas’ donations -- Florida Governor Ron DeSantis -- has said he was barely an acquaintance. “The governor does not have a relationship with these individuals,” DeSantis’ spokesperson at the time, Helen Aguirre Ferré, said in a statement on Oct. 10, 2019.

Six days later, DeSantis told reporters that Parnas "was just like any other donor, nothing more than that.” But DeSantis and Parnas worked more closely together than the Republican governor has disclosed, according to a detailed account of their relationship Parnas provided to Reuters and 63 previously unreported text messages from DeSantis to Parnas between May and October 2018, as DeSantis campaigned for governor. A jury later found Parnas guilty of campaign finance crimes and other charges.

As DeSantis prepares to take a widely anticipated leap into the 2024 presidential campaign this week, the disclosures from Parnas cast new light on the Florida governor’s relationship with the businessman and the role Parnas played in helping DeSantis gain entree to the circle of former President Donald Trump. DeSantis spokesman Dave Abrams did not respond to specific questions on the existence of the texts and Parnas’ account of their relationship. “This is another recycled narrative that has been proven wrong many times over," he said. DeSantis gave back the contribution after Parnas ran into legal trouble.

The text messages reviewed by Reuters show that DeSantis frequently – in more than 20 texts – appealed to fellow Floridian Parnas for introductions, advice and other fundraising help during his hotly contested campaign for governor. Two sources close to DeSantis during his 2018 campaign confirmed the texter’s number belonged to DeSantis at that time. The texts also reveal that Parnas served as an intermediary between DeSantis and former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, who at the time was the personal attorney of then-President Trump. In one case, 10 days before the 2018 election, DeSantis sent Parnas a text with suggested wording for a Giuliani tweet in support of his candidacy, the messages show.'

No. Americans have a dislike for authoritarianism, especially the 3rd world mini-mussolini kind that DeSantis espouses.

Another lying faux-Christian with a buried story.
Great news that it has reared it's ugly head.

No ammo for Trump though, he welcomed Parnas (Furman) with open arms all the while claiming he hardly knew him, just a run of the mill photo op, eh?
Curious if Parnas and/or his son will have something to say?

Musso is so transparent not wanting to lose support and campaign money.
He put the breaks on ****.
A feel-good useless law fed to his stooges who think he's fighting illegal workers.
If he was serious, which he's not he wouldn't have just given 10's of thousands of current employers a pass and their future hiring.
Employers with 25 or more workers and only for NEW workers.

'Florida law puts a brake on hiring of undocumented workers'

    snip:

'Conservative Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on May 10 signed what he called the "strongest anti-illegal immigration bill in the nation" to bar undocumented workers from taking jobs in the southern US state.

Starting July 1, businesses with 25 or more employees will be required to use the federal E-Verify system to check the legal status of all new employees.'

Ron DeSantis or Trump or Niki Haley, it doesn’t matter, at the end of the day, whomever is Republican candidate on Nov 2024, 71-75 million will line up and vote for him/her.

Question is, will Democrat, independent, young voter show up to poll like they did 2018, 2020, 2022? If they do then GOP can nominate whoever they want, that wouldn’t make any difference.

Suburban moms in Milwaukee, Madison, Detroit, Philadelphia, Atlanta and Phoenix are not going to vote for people who took away their freedom.

It's unfortunate that so many American voters are negatively motivated.

That guarantees a mutual smear campaign in the aftermath of the goon attack that ended the nation's proud tradition of peaceful transfers of power, 1789-2021.

TALLAHASSEE — Every year for nearly a decade, three names were added to the Florida Civil Rights Hall of Fame, to honor those who've made significant contributions in the fight for equality and justice for all.

It's in state law: the Commission on Human Relations shall recommend up to 10 people for selection, and the governor shall select up to three of them. Their names and portraits are put up in a corner beside the Capitol entrance.

But that hasn't happened since 2019, Gov. Ron DeSantis' first year in office. Some Florida religious leaders, joined by local government and nonprofit officials, gathered on Thursday afternoon in front of the Civil Rights Hall of Fame, which is located neared the entrance of the Capitol building, and demanded to know why.'

OK that I keep adding current DeSantis news?
imo: An all about DeSantis' latest thread was needed.
Nothing is surprising anymore coming from him.
Talk about dangerous and scary, like his Florida wasn't dangerous and scary enough.
Looks like many of the cops Republicans claim are fleeing what they call leftie/ commie cities landed in Florida.

'Numerous police officers lured to new jobs in Florida with cash from Governor Ron DeSantis’s flagship law enforcement relocation program have histories of excessive violence or have been arrested for crimes including kidnapping and murder since signing up, a study of state documents has found.'

    snip:

"However, among the almost 600 officers who moved to Florida and received the bonus – or were recruited in state – are a sizable number who either arrived with a range of complaints against them, or have since accrued criminal charges, the online media outlet Daily Dot has discovered.

They include a former trainee deputy with the Escambia county sheriff’s office charged with murdering her husband; an officer with the Miramar police department fired for domestic battery and kidnapping; and a former member of the New York police department (NYPD) who was hired by the Palm Beach police department having once been accused of an improper sexual proposition.

That officer, named by the Daily Dot as Daniel Meblin, was also part of a $160,000 settlement by the NYPD for violence at a 2020 protest against the deaths of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd in which officers were accused of beating Black males without provocation.'

'Florida sued for barring Chinese citizens from owning ...'

In 2018 Florida voters passed a ballot to repeal an early 1900s law barring Japanese and Chinese immigrants from owning land/homes.
Courts in the 1950s struck down most of those laws, not Florida though.
ACLU is representing a group of Chinese citizens.
Looks like Meatball Musso is okay with Miami's Russian & Chinese Birth Tourism though.

2 hours ago — People who own or acquire property in violation of the law are subject to criminal charges, fines and imprisonment. The ACLU in Monday's lawsuit ...

    snip:

'The law prohibits individuals who are "domiciled" in China and are not U.S. citizens or green card holders from owning buildings or land in Florida.

Florida's law also bars most citizens of Cuba, Venezuela, Syria, Iran, Russia and North Korea from owning property within 10 miles of any military installation or "critical infrastructure facility" such as a power plant, airport or refinery.

The law includes a narrow exception allowing holders of non-tourist visas from these countries to own a single property that is not within five miles of critical infrastructure and not larger than two acres.

Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, who is expected to announce soon that he is running for U.S. president, signed the law earlier in May, saying it would help protect Americans from the influence of the Chinese Communist Party.'

'Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will announce he is running for president during a discussion with Twitter CEO Elon Musk, three sources familiar with the plans told NBC News.

Musk and DeSantis will host an event on Twitter Spaces, the site’s platform for audio chats, on Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET. It will be moderated by David Sacks, a tech entrepreneur who is a Musk confidant and DeSantis supporter.

That same evening, the campaign will release a launch video, and DeSantis will begin visiting several early states after Memorial Day.'

Audio only stream on Twitter then off to Conservative news shows.
Already sounds like a piecemeal failure for a presidential announcement.
