I don’t think this is anything to worry about unless Trump goes to jail. Trump is the overwhelming choice to be the GOP nominee, he leads DeSantis by 35 points for the nomination. Trump is sitting pretty at 55%.

If I were a Democrat, I’d be more worried about Biden. He will be the democratic nominee, today he’s tied with Trump.

There’s one huge disconnect when it comes to choosing nominees with all America vs. the Republican and Democratic Party’s choices. Which looks like another rematch of Biden vs. Trump. 55% of all Americans don’t want Biden to run again which includes 59% of independents. 54% don’t want Trump to run again with independents at 56%. Questions 21 and 22.

The last time we had two unwanted candidates running for the presidency was 2016. 2024 has all the feel of another 2016, not 2020. Remember, in 2020 Biden won independents 54-41 over Trump. Today, like the 2022 midterms, independents are splitting their vote evenly between the two, 41-41 with the rest either undecided or voting other which brings us into a 100% pure tossup election. ALA 2016. Those 7 plus million votes Biden won by in 2020 aren’t there today. They disappeared along with Biden’s 13-point margin he won independents by in 2020. Independents are giving Biden only a 32% job approval vs. 59% disapproval. What do you expect when both major parties insist on running two candidates most Americans don’t want to become their next president?

The Left seems to be complaining about DeSantis style "authoritarianism" but seems to be avoiding a look at the authoritarianism on their own side.

 

If you feel that the Democratic Party is abrogating reproductive rights, etc. and adopting other statist usurpations in contravention of the public will, you should identify what those policies are.

DeSantis's dictating his ideology to educators, librarians, medical professionals, private enterprise, local communities, etc. is repugnant to proponents of liberty.

What authoritarianism? Laws passed by an elected legislature are the opposite of authoritarianism.

Ron is resisting this sort of thing (person with mustache wearing a dress and makeup greeting children, I'll repeat that, CHILDREN at a Disney Princess store). Shouldn't he? Who protects the children?

 

Florida hasn't banned any books. It has removed some from libraries in elementary schools.

People vote with their feet and tens of thousands have been moving from blue state dysfunctional hell-holes to Florida for the state's good life due to good governence, the exact opposite of authoritarianism.

 

No books have been banned in Florida. Some that are inappropriate for children have been removed from school libraries. They are readily available elsewhere, hence no banning.

 

At this time vast majority of it is coming from the populist side, which it why they are being called out for it.

 

If the librarian can't put these "removed" books back in the school library then these books are in the banned book category,.

'College Board says it won't alter AP courses to comply with Florida's laws'


'The College Board released a letter Thursday putting its foot down on further demands from Florida to change any of its Advanced Placement (AP) classes, the latest development in the ongoing feud between the company and the administration of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).

“[College Board] will not modify our courses to accommodate restrictions on teaching essential, college-level topics,” the company told the Florida Department of Education Office of Articulation.

“Doing so would break the fundamental promise of AP: colleges wouldn’t broadly accept that course for credit and that course wouldn’t prepare students for careers in the discipline,” it added.

The College Board says the Florida office recently asked it to modify any courses that conflict with the new Florida rule restricting teaching on sexual orientation and gender identity in the classroom through 12th grade.'

In a May 19 letter to College Board, Florida demanded the company do an audit of its courses and relay which ones would need to be modified to comply with the new rule by June 16.

"We have learned from our mistakes in the recent rollout of AP African American Studies and know that we must be clear from the outset where we stand,” the College Board said.'

No. They aren't banned. They are available to adults all over the place. They simply aren't on the shelves in schools. Neither are texts on how to manufacture and use explosives. They aren't appropriate for children. No need to argue semantics with me. It never works.

 

They are banned from public school libraries/classrooms.
Try as you might but this has **** to do with where any of these banned books are available elsewhere.
