I'm well aware that we live in a declining LW-Complex, decadent, garbage celebrity culture fueled by the left side of the intelligence bell curve and redistribution. No need to remind me. But regardless of a vapid, consumerist culture that rewards mass "entertainment" and entertainers disproportionally, in the pantheon of LW female movie stars, she's average looking at best. Fact.

Whatever the "wounded, incel neckbeard crowd" is, based on just posts here on this forum, it's far more LW than nonleft. I haven't seen a single poster advocating some boycott of this movie due to the bigoted comments of its star, I certainly haven't, and for the second time was complimentary of the movie's obvious marketing strategy. Left, thy name is projection... as usual.

 

Saw the movie today. It was a good, not a great Marvel movie.

 

I like Tom Cruise movies even though he is certifiably nuts. From the amazing box office, we have found that audiences don't consider politics very much when considering a movie.

That said, Brie just inspires a certain kind of loyalty from her hard-core can base.

 

That's actually one of the best pictures of her I've seen.

 

I saw the movie. It actually wasn't horrible. I liked Larson's character myself as she was kind of playful and slighlty spunky. I did not like what they did with Fury. They made him passably competant and a joke. Their were moments where it was girl power and in your face, which may seem like a dumb criticism but when you have a flash back scenes of her getting hurt and everybody laughing at, yelling, or chiding her instead of doing the believable thing of checking to see if she's okay it is pretty eye rolling. Seriously, in one scene it has her crashing a go kart and is bleeding when some man(presumably her father)comes running up and screaming at her that she never should have been on one. It does get very obviously political by the third act. You can see the agenda behind what they're trying to do and it's so blatant you have to just say "really". I'll discuss it if anyone wants but it will be prefaced with a SPOILER tag. Personally I would give it a 5 out of 10.

The more I think about it, the more I find myself liking it. My wife didn't go with me the first time I saw it, so taking her tomorrow. I said it wasn't one of the top 5 Marvel movies, and I still think that, but it may be in the top 5 origin story movies.
